Brilliant is exactly right. People on the left, people like sys, and pilt, and 2cents, ought to be as publicly appalled by what their team attempted to do as are those on the right. Team loyalty should go only so far. When your side attempts to subvert the law of the land, and in effect turn the Constitution into historic trash, you should be outraged, no matter which team was doing the damage. Rooting for your team to win under any cost - even the overthrow of our way of life, our legal standards, our very well being - should not be condoned. I look forward to hearing what they have to say in response to this brilliant expose.

I suppose it depends on what is the meaning of the word "made." Obviously it was discussed, people's feelings about an overthrow were felt out, quietly plotted. Usually one connects a coup (or a coup attempt) with generals marshaling their forces. This one was much more subtle, very surreptitious. It failed in the sense the conspirators could not garner the support they felt they needed. There is no doubt in my mind they would have attempted a coup if they thought they could get away with it. I don't see how anyone with a smidgen of objectivism would think otherwise.
I suppose you are talking about Rosenstein? He sought to use constitutional means, did he not?
I guess it wasn't much of a plan then. My ruling: a few DOJ guys talking about the 25th amendment amongst themselves is not a coup.
