Agree. The admin side with all the paperwork is a huge distraction. Even though I'd never want my head coach to be doing that stuff, I believe DT finished his Masters in Education Administration. So he knows the deal there, and whoever he hires for that position won't be able to blow smoke by him.

I would say no. Maybe when Dake is ready post Olympics, Gilman slides to the RTC.
On some level sure but the high end RTC guys are getting paid. It is up to Taylor how that money gets spent.
I believe Kennedy leaving Northwestern is how Carter Young ended up back at OSU.

And it’s a true collaboration with regards to “coaching” - everyone contributes to practice plans, technique, one on ones.

I don't know, man. Obviously, DT knows TG as a person and coach. But TG makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit.
We will all get over it quickly. Think abt it this way, if baker mayfield wanted to transfer to osu for his senior year….. you learn to love him.

Watched an interview with him a couple of weeks ago and he seems to really have matured but I get it.

And he is LOYAL. Which is what i'm sure we've all noticed. He's going to do a great job. I think Spratley is in the finals next year.
The Mayfield comparison works great...he's the type of guy you love if he's on your side, but hate if he's on the other side.
The best thing that happened to Thomas Gilman was a change of scenery.
I hated Gilman and and Dake while they were college wrestling but have only heard good things about them in State College.
Believe it's head coach only that triggers the portal. Could be mistaken, though.
Leaving Iowa is the best thing to happen to anybody living in Iowa.
Not for me, I would have still hated mayfield if he were here, just still rooted for the team. Same way I did when Chubb Hubbard was here.
TG has said in the past more than once that he hates OSU . Now he is an employee
I'm also a Tampa Bay Bucs fan so I had to learn to appreciate Mayfield last year...took awhile and he's still on a short leash, but I did it.

With the direction he went with these hires, is it safe to say that his Head of Operations hire will be his most important move? They really need a veteran presence to help with the day to day administrative load
Both these graduated HS 12-15 years ago, but from what I recall, we nearly signed David Taylor twice (once when he signed with Cael at ISU and once when he opened up his recruitment after Cael left for PSU). The rumor was we led for Gilman at some point during his recruitment out of HS too.
Gilman will help Fix make an Olympic team.. Think about that.
If this is true, and Dake will be on staff as a coach, then there is only 1 spot left open for a coach/recruiting coordinator along with a RTC coach, correct?
A buddy of mine hosted DT on his visit and swears that we had his commitment until another assistant with a more abrasive approach told he and his family that they weren't good enough to wear orange
If this is true, I feel even better about the hire. The admin side of things is real and can be a real pain.

I was born and raised in Oklahoma, but Iowa is a great state to live in. Even if I do have to put up with Hawkeye fans hating on my Cowboy Wrestling!
I don’t disagree and I was being a tiny bit facetious. But on the serious side, a lot of people I grew up with have never lived anywhere outside of Iowa and some rarely even travel elsewhere.
I wouldn’t mind living there now but a lot of people there are a bit insular, primarily in the smaller communities.
This is a heck of a staff in my opinion
