Ive had an iPhone since 2008, but considering going with an s8 galaxy or s8 galaxy note. Has anyone made the jump from Apple to android and how was the experience? The reps at Costco tried to talk me out of it the other day and one of them had a Galaxy. They said I would be frustrated as an Apple iPhone user.

Speaking of Apple I need to confess. I’ve never considered myself an Apple fan boy. After Christmas I realized this year I had bought a new iPhone, IPad, Iwatch, and Beats headphones this year. I am ashamed. Apple owns me now.

I've not ever switched from iPhone to Android because I never went to the Apple ecosystem. I just don't like their products. Sorry, not much help.

I've got the S8 Note.

This thing is a beast.

Gf, who's been an Apple person all her life, switched to standard S8 Galaxy. She was apprehensive at first, but after a few hours loved it a LOT know than any Apple she's ever owned (Which includes the most recent models).

If you've got a buddy with either of the products to ask questions the first day or 2, you'll be a-okay. Even if you don't, there are online communities that have asked and answered any question you can think up.

Android phone, iPad tablet user.

Apple iOS basically copies Android, so if you get a phone running stock Android or close, it's really not much of a change other than getting features two or three years earlier.

The hard part is Apple keeping everything inside their own ecosystem. Moving/sharing stuff from iCloud is a f#cking nightmare

Good to hear. Thanks.

That’s nothing to be ashamed of. That’s something to be proud of.

I'm going to use whatever free phone my company issues. I'm currently an iphone slut.

I not a big tech guy but I switched a couple of years back and couldn't tell much difference. Biggest positives were the bigger screen and it takes less time and holds a charge a lot better. I'm pretty sure Apple has addressed both issues by now.

My wife made the change a few years back and has no desire to move back. Every time she gets a new phone I ask her if she wants to try the iphone again and always turns it down.

Now I have always been an Android guy, went to an iphone for work, hated it and went back, then two years ago I went back to iphone because my boss hates androids and won't let us get email on android phones. I hate this damn iphone, most days I run into something that bugs me that I can't change and I curse the damn thing.

Like what?

Like what?

3rd party keyboards suck on iphone. There are small things I dislike very much about iphones keyboard and Googles keyboard fills those holes, but some times the google keyboard comes up some times the iphone, it's a crap shoot.

I hate how it sorts the "desktop" of the phone, if I want to swap an app on my home screen I have to spend way to long rearranging the apps because it always moves everything down one spot.

Not a fan of the notifications, although it has gotten a lot better.

those are the two things that annoy me the most, but there are other small little things that may seem nit picky to some but when you're on a OS that allows you to change something that seems simple and then go to one that doesn't it's VERY annoying.

The first one sounds like a google app problem.

On the second I’m not sure I follow, but I just use folders.

On the third, you can customize your notifications, can’t you?

Not trying to argue, I am just curious when people say the don’t like the iPhone. I want to understand why.

1. no I have tried other keyboards they all had that problem for me.

2. so if I have an icon at the bottom of my home screen and I want to swap it with an icon at the top I can't just swap them around, it will move everything down one and you have to play the game of all your icons moving down every time you move one.

3. I just like how my wife's galaxy's notifications look and feel better.

I did notice before I gave up on 3rd party keyboards and put up with the apple one that I would have that problem 9 times out of 10 in the text app.

It appears you have to make the change in each conversation.

Worst thing about switching is that a lot of the controls and interface is essentially backwards from what you're used to. But lettuce be perfectly honest. If you put too much thought into being a fanboy of Apple or Android, then you're probably a huge fvcking loser.
