i know we have a young team and money maybe low to distribute to a lot of top recruits but i was wandering do we have any insight on recruits that we are after and maybe leaning our way. it seems like a lot of top guys are committing to other places. i remember back in 2010 we had a similar recruiting year. the only guy we picked up was josh kindig.

We do have Gfeller and pretty likely Daton Fix along with some other guys that could develop like Nolan Boyd has.

The Cowboys need to get Fix and a Hwt. and I am talking about a very good HWT like Stevenson from Minnesota. Anderson could really develop and be that but his senior year by glancing at his results was not promising. I indicated I did not like really last years class with Sheets, Anderson and Moore but what do I know. But then you add the Juco Smith and the transfers at 149 and 197 the class improves a lot. My concern is Penn. St. who last year hit a gold mine. This year they only have one wrestler but he is a top 10 guy, Lee. 2018 they already have 3 top 10 guys in that class. We have a very good lineup it appears this year and next year but Penn. St.is like our teams when we had a run of titles in that they have the superstars that unless injured will score monster points at Nationals. We have some young wrestlers this year if they jump a level we could win Nationals. Best chances are our young wrestlers Piccinni, Brock, Smith, Rogers and Weigel or White.

Would be shocked not to get Fix, but, have heard he truely is considering a couple other schools. Just think at the end of it all OSU is his choice. Just seems like an overall good fit.

He is considering other schools or at least he has in the past. In the end I believe he will choose OSU. We need him at OSU but he needs OSU to fulfill his dreams. I do not like the suspense but believe it will turn out well for all concerned.

OU just picked up the Jake Woodley from North Allegheny, who will wrestle 197 at OU. HUGE get, won state in PA last spring at 182 and moved up to 197 for the Super 32 and took 7th. FLO has OU's class ranked 6th with Demas & Lawson from OH & Litterell from Tuttle.

When we add in Fix, and it moves us up to top two.

Micco has as usual spread trumpisms. There is no basis to Fix going to OU.
Not wanting to turn this political, but you're more likely to vote for Trump than I am.

And yes, there is basis for Fix to go to OU. He might not want to go to OSU because he wants to make a name for himself. Not every son goes to his father's alma mater. Plus, he'd still be in state, so family and friends could come watch.

Throw in having Rosselli as his coach, and there are multiple compelling reasons to go to OU.

You make a good point but the basis would more likely be did he or does he plan to visit or talk with the coaches

Fix could be OSUs Mocco...if he goes to sNorman.

Or

He could be a legend!

I believe Roselli will be a good coach but he is not John Smith. I had two sons go to my Alma Mater and one turned out well and the other is a "turncoat".

Agreed....I believe Lou will do a great job but let's face it, being a head coach versus an assist coach is totally a different animal. Great assistants don't always make great head coaches. As far as Fix, if it ain't OSU it's gonna be tOSU.

Surprised you didn't throw psu in there

I hear maybe Berge might be in the room this weekend, Heading up there today. Having a few pictures taken with John and me with a PSU shirt on (because of a bet I made on the PSU board). Going to have to white out my face in the picture, don't want the enemy to know what I look like incase one of their wrestlers get hurt before Nationals (aka =Tanya Harding wannabe).

Mike you kill me..... I'm thinking Fix to OSU seems so likely at this point. I think some of you guys under value Ethan Anderson. He was a very big prospect who struggled his senior year due to never having cut weight. He was too big for 220 that year and should have moved to hwt. He attacks non stop on the legs. I believe he has huge upside and Smith recruited him because he saw this. I expect a high AA finish out of him in a couple of years. Time will tell.

I really hope you are right on this Mr. Whitters. I admit after seeing results from his senior year that I had forgotten about him in the room. I wonder if in moving up to heavy weight that this might affect his leg shots as the margin of error gets smaller due to the size of the opponents.

All wrestling fans everywhere are glad you are whiting out your face. Wrestling may at times be a brutal sport but I do not think the wrestling world is prepared to view your countenance.

I am pretty close with Derek and we have talked about where he is going to go many times and he just says wherever daton wants to go he will support him. However, he was talking about how daton and Gfellar are very close friends, he said they are almost like brothers and that in my opinion would seal the deal on OSU. Who wouldn't go where there best friend is going?

Practice was cancelled today, thanks to my inside guy saving me a 5 hour drive one way. Two weeks in a roll not making it up to practice, starting to think John doesn't want to take a picture of us together wearing that ugly shirt. Could it be he just doesn't want to see me, that can't be it, but he did cancel practice when he knew I was coming up. I might be in denial, I think I need therapy. Could he be the only person in the world that doesn't like me? No way, I'll try next week (please Lord don't have John cancel practice again). Maybe I better not tell him I'm coming!

We are spared your ugly face for one more week. You said, "I think I need therapy". We all know you need therapy. I guess John cancelled practice because he had a tough match to train for against the women's softball coach.

More about OU recruiting:

Rosselli just picked up Anthony Mantanona, from California. Per Flowrestling, Mantanona, is currently ranked 6th in the country at 170lbs and the #34 overall recruit in the Class of 2017. He won the Flowrestling National Championships, and earlier this year was the Greco Roman National Champion. He was committed to Iowa State, but still wanted to look around and take other visits. Kevin Jackson said if he did, they'd rescind their offer. So now he's at OU.

Not only that, but he said after he rescinded his offer the only way Mantanona would wrestle for Iowa State would be as a walk on.

Why verbal if you are going to keep looking. If it is ok for Mantanona to keep looking, is it ok for coaches to recruit over him also. Money was agreed upon & KJ was done with this class.

It's a typical he said she said. It's not everyday you hear of a coach telling a kid if you take another visit we revoke the verbal agreement. I understand coaches need decisions at some point but this almost sounds like maybe Iowa State reconsidered how bad they wanted him and maybe used this as a way to back out. Just speculating.

Happy with Ethan Smith. Done deal and I don't fault KJ at all for how he handled that.

Oh, I see both sides to the verbal/commitment/keep looking argument. I don't have a lot of heartburn about either way. His comments about him walking on seemed pretty bitter, but that's just my take.

In other OU related news, Hunter Steiber just became our volunteer coach. That should pay off huge.

Every move Rosselli's made just seems to be the right move.

I do not recall Hunter Steiber having that great of a career as to compared to many of the folks that left OU that worked under Cody.
