Here in OKC I venture out on Sunday a lot, and the most friendly and well dressed people I run in to by far are African Americans that just attended church, the entire family dressed to the nines, out shopping or eating. These are the happiest people I run in to by far on a day to day basis. I see this frequently.

It is amazing how many go out of their way to talk to me if I give them direct eye contact and a welcoming smile and a good morning or good afternoon. I look
forward to it because I like happy and smiling people.

Happened twice to me today, once at Sam’s and again at Off The Hook restaurant, I slowed down and just enjoyed the interaction...who was going to keep the door open for who. Yes sir and mutual thank you’s and greetings. A long leisurely conversation as we progressed to check out.

Where is all this racism? I do not sense hate from African Americans or whites.

Most of all, the sense of pride, class, and happiness by those African Americans I interact with on Sunday’s is just thru the roof, I really feel like they have a secret to life. I am so old school, I love seeing people dressed well on a Sunday out of respect for god and family.

I bring this up because it just does not fit the narrative on TV, or how TV is telling people a late 50’s white male (perhaps any white male no matter the age) thinks.

What a great day, nothing better than to go out in your community and exchange mutual respect and love for your neighbor, and to top it off we had great weather.

Days like today give me hope that good people in the end will prevail.

White Americans have become the greatest fashion slouches of all-time in public settings. Go to any black comedy show and it's black folks dressing to the nines and the brave white souls that did venture out showing up in shorts, flip-flops, t-shirts and ballcaps.

Went to see a black comedian at the Tower Theater last year and he ripped a white couple to shreds for not dressing up. "You can't go straight from the Home Depot plumbing and bath department to this comedy show without expecting to get ripped. A little effort, that's all I'm saying".

Well, I do not care to hang out in areas full of hate.

Probably why you don’t personally have any anecdotal evidence that racism still exists.

Which doesn’t mean it has been extinguished.

I agree. I do not seek out hatred, I would be curious to know what areas and pockets of the OKC area are known as racist and where hatred lives? Do not name high crime areas, criminals are trying to survive financially.

We have seen some recent examples coming out of uo in Norman.

Armysoulja who use to post on this board as an African American and said that Oklahoma was the least racist state he has lived in. He was from Louisiana and traveled around due to the military.

I am not suggesting there is no racism, but I do not see it at the level the media portrays, and frankly you can make an argument that the media is inciting more racism and they act like they want a civil war in this country, probably be good for ratings for them.

You are suggesting that because you don’t personally see it at the level the media portrays, it isn’t at that level. *shoulder shrug*

What evidence you have it does exist at that level? My best friend growing up was black, I witnessed first hand racism, particularly at the old Gibson's Store in OKC that was on MacArthur just north of 39th street. I do not se it, anywhere visibly today.

What proof you have it is at the level the media suggests? *shoulder shrug*.

I’m not the one that made an original proposition (that it doesn’t exist at that level)....that was you.

Furthermore, I’m not gonna try to convince you when you have clearly already made up your mind based solely upon your personal, singular, anecdotal observations.

Thus....my original *shoulder shrug*.

Yes Clinton I did a study. Bend over as far as you can and look up you should see it.

So why did you respond in this thread? Evidently you have no opinion on this topic, or do, and if you do you have no better evidence to support your proposition than my own. How would you define if we have a serious race issue in this country and how would you measure it? If you do not care that is fine to. The media in my opinion is not an accurate source.

And your singular, sole, anecdotal experience isn’t an accurate source in my opinion.

Which I simply pointed out.

I will respond, when, where, and why I want....thanks.

I suggest you do the same.

I will say that my neighborhood I just moved out of in Arkansas I had several black neighbors. No problems at all. Great folks.

Pull off the Woodrow exit in Little Rock after dark? I'd have some problems.
