Here in OKC I venture out on Sunday a lot, and the most friendly and well dressed people I run in to by far are African Americans that just attended church, the entire family dressed to the nines, out shopping or eating. These are the happiest people I run in to by far on a day to day basis. I see this frequently.
It is amazing how many go out of their way to talk to me if I give them direct eye contact and a welcoming smile and a good morning or good afternoon. I look
forward to it because I like happy and smiling people.
Happened twice to me today, once at Sam’s and again at Off The Hook restaurant, I slowed down and just enjoyed the interaction...who was going to keep the door open for who. Yes sir and mutual thank you’s and greetings. A long leisurely conversation as we progressed to check out.
Where is all this racism? I do not sense hate from African Americans or whites.
Most of all, the sense of pride, class, and happiness by those African Americans I interact with on Sunday’s is just thru the roof, I really feel like they have a secret to life. I am so old school, I love seeing people dressed well on a Sunday out of respect for god and family.
I bring this up because it just does not fit the narrative on TV, or how TV is telling people a late 50’s white male (perhaps any white male no matter the age) thinks.
What a great day, nothing better than to go out in your community and exchange mutual respect and love for your neighbor, and to top it off we had great weather.
Days like today give me hope that good people in the end will prevail.
