2025 NCAA Tournament

Looking at the brackets it definitely appears they leaned heavily towards the B10 and overall conference champs. Theres a couple of head scratchers but it is what it is.

This will be THE test for DT and Co. They can see the brackets as easily as we can. Will they prep for certain guys or will they take the old staff's approach of "let em worry about us"?

Spratley needs to be ready for Ramos. - Figure out how to get to a leg, he wasnt close in Vegas.

Jamison needs to be ready for Bartlett. - Forget your double that shit aint working against Bartlett (he's to fast). Create an angle and get to your single leg.

Fish needs to be ready for Hipolito. - No throws early. Fundamentals and push the pace!

Surber needs to be ready for Cardenas.- This one is the big ask imo because Cardenas has looked great but Surber has wrestled him close in FS. Luke HAS to be ready and scrambling like his ass is on fire.

These are all HUGE quarter final match ups (if they get there). We need to win some of these if we want 2nd place.

We're due for that guy thats outside the top 5 to go on a REAL run.

Remember this post and see how youre feeling about the staff after the third round at NCAA's.

I know I'm being lazy but where are the 3 days (6 rounds) of the NCAA being broadcast. Thanks in advance for the info.

Info in link. A mix of ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU and ESPN+. Unclear which parts you can watch with only an ESPN+ subscription or if you need a cable/live tv subscription for all of it. The Big 12 finals said it was ESPNU/ESPN+, but you couldn't watch it with an ESPN+ subscription alone, you needed a live tv/cable subscription.

Troy was close'ish in Vegas twice...but Ramos horsed him. I think the season weight cut might be tough on Ramos and he's looked a tad weaker. This one will be a good one!

Tagen needs to bang on Bartlett IMO. He's strong and that double should set-up another angle...he will prepare for that double against Tagen. This one is a taller task than Alirez to me, but I think he can do it.

Fish beats Hipilito this time, if he gets there!

I like the Surber match-up here. I'd rather have an injured Barr, but this was my second choice. Cardenas (I've only watched him 4-5 times) seems ripe in a scramble. He relies on muscle and position...which will be thrown out in a scramble...sorta.

Ramos wasn't himself at conferences. I expect he'll be back to form and extra motivated come NCAAs

Newb questions, but are weigh-ins basically the same for NCAAs as for conferences? For guys who have big weight cuts (Strickenberger, Ramos) does it get harder or easier the deeper it gets into the tournament?
It gets harder, but you weigh in once per day. I believe it has to be two hours before competition starts. So technically for guys that have big cuts, they get at least 2 hours to rehydrate and eat. Theres also a 1 pound allowance for day 2 and 3.

No, it is a 3 day weigh-in and it stays hard until the last weigh-in. Catching big guys later Friday is optimal, but Friday at any time is okay.

Barr after Cardenas.

We are probably saying the same thing, but it's "how" they are cutting that leads to the gassing and tournament fading. Not following the nutritionist's plan leads to too many unplanned energy dumps by the body.
Yes sir!

It is crazy to think how pulling weight is different now than even 15 years ago. It looked like, to me, Ramos had energy/strength issues, which would be the exact scenario you mentioned.

I didn't understand it until I read an article by Zain's nutritionist in getting him down 13 pounds and still be able to compete at a high level. Planning the intake is all important to the output, and took about five months to get Zain to where he needed to be. The whole intake = output sounds obvious and reasonable, but he discussed how nutrition looks from the body's standpoint and not our brains. If not balanced, the body sheds energy to get back to balance. Fascinating read actually.

That's why DT bans the party culture. It trains the body to do the wrong things. That's my problem too I guess.

I found the article but it's behind a paywall.

I am almost positive he has to win his following match to get an advancement point from it. I do think he gets activity points for it regardless.

No, you have to win the next match after a bye to get credit for the advancement from the bye. Win a championship bracket pigtail, that's 1 advancement point immediately. And yes, bonus points also count in the pigtail.

I think it's safe to say this is a part of the job that Taylor does not look forward to doing. I hope at some point he sees some value in it and engages a little more.
he doesn’t seem to mind answering good, interesting questions. The gotchas, the “please confirm/deny my prepared statements”, the narratives, and the wandering monologues notsomuch. I mean imagine someone showing up to your job and asking a technical question because they’re interested (Seth), and then someone asking you to validate some storyline they cooked up while drunk while also trying SO hard to be your buddy and show off their quasi-knowledge (RA). Maybe a harsh read but man RA has a weird vibe and I wouldn’t want to answer his questions either. He just has this energy where he wants to be fishing buddies but also so obviously wants to lull you into saying something stupid. Lol

LowSingle needs to get in on some of these OSU Wrestling interviews. His questions and Wrestling knowledge would be welcome from DT I would think.
