I'm not sure I can recall a year when just every major OSU sport either sucked really bad or is as tremendously disappointing as this one.
Football: Ugh. No bowl, winless in conference, post-season Gundy gone/not gone drama.
Basketball: Even though we knew it's a rebuilding year, we got blown out several times and laid a complete egg in the last game.
Wrestling: An exception--stinks that we couldn't get over the Iowa hump, but still obviously headed in the right direction.
Women's basketball: An exception! Good for Coach Hoyt and the players.
Baseball: same $hit, different year. Mid-week losses to powerhouses Winthrop & Texas State, losing to crap teams like Illinois State and the like, and continuing not to capitalize on the expected bump in players and performance from building O'Brate.
Softball: Not over by any means, but season certainly not going in the direction we thought/hoped given the pre-season hype.
I feel I've been pretty damn negative in any of my posts/replies, and I hate that I've been that way. Football success (or lack thereof) probably sets my attitude for the year, and that crapfest of a season didn't help, but OSU athletics collectively just feels like utter crap at the moment (admittedly not completely, but again...it just "feels" like the $hittiest year ever.)
I'm now back to what my dad used to always tell me in my early days of being an OSU fan--"there's always next year!"
