Our defense

Might be the worst I’ve ever seen at OSU. Here are some interesting points:

-Nardo is in over his head.

-I’ll say that JK had a rough 1-2 years at OSU but at least his defenses showed improvement and got better and you could see it. Nardo’s are getting worse.

-Before you blame this on talent Waltershied and Korie Black and a few other guys were playing under JK and looked like solid players. They look like shells of themselves now. So while some might say we have to recruit more talent on that side of the ball I’d argue and say that we have been recruiting the same for years and years and JK was able to take those same level recruits and turn them into a very good defense.

-To be somewhat fair to Nardo he was hired to run a 3-3-5 and we never run it. Having said that we have managed to establish the OSU defense. A cluster of some sort of 4-2-5 and we now make coaches run the OSU defense. And it’s a bad defense.

-We sub in along the dline all the time and I get it. Big bodies need to keep them fresh. We never sub in at LB our our LB’s need to be taken out at times not just for keeping them fresh but moreso because they are playing terrible football. So why don’t Ute and Ike ever get any snaps at the position? Ute is making special teams plays and looks good doing it. Why not give him some snaps and see what happens. Can’t be any worse than what we are seeing.

-Kendal Daniels has all the potential in the world and quite honestly probably should be an nfl kid but he isn’t held accountable for his lazy play and he isn’t coaches up correctly regarding lanes and assignment football. So he runs past a play and gives up. In my opinion you motivate a player like this by not playing him. Bench him to motivate and send a message while also coaching him up on how he messed up a play or didn’t give it his all.

#22 is just not very talented and over runs plays and his gap constantly. Both him and Daniels either over run it or engage with a lineman and can never disengage for a pass rush.

-Our corners have regressed and it should have been a position of strength. Korie Black should be being talked about regarding nfl potential. Cam Smith looked good at times last year (bedlam) and they both have struggled this year at times.

-Why don’t we play other safety’s? Clevland, Ty Williams, Kam Franklin? Look what happened when we played a walk on at saftey in Parker Robinson. Some good things happened. Why not try and do that more?

-I don’t understand what Nardo’s goal is on defense? We get gashed by the other teams run game. Our players sit back and wait for the offensive player to come to them. There is no attacking.

-Our blitz packages look so bad and our guys stand straight up and can’t get past anyone. They lock in with the oline and can’t ever disengage with them.

-We look so slow at times and we also look like we aren’t even trying at times. Now I do believe we are trying but it looks like we aren’t because of how bad things are going.

-I blame the coaching 100%. A change needs to happen right now.

Can we get a thread devoted to Senate updates?

I haven't been spending enough time on the Senate races. I think we forget, but Pubs having solid numbers in the Senate will be vital to Trump's success if he wins, as his confirmation hearings will happen in the Senate. Remember in his first term, it took like 18 months for him to get all his nominees confirmed thanks to Dems in the Senate stonewalling. We will need to get the confirmations knocked out ASAP.

I believe most are saying Pubs will retake the Senate, but what are the numbers looking like? How many new faces, and did Trump endorse them? Anyone know who has been following the races?

Just heard an interesting election theory on why Trump is pushing vote early

The theory is Trump wants to run up the score to FORCE the left to attempt a steal on Election Day.

I do know this: Suddenly about a week ago he and all of his team suddenly started pushing the vote early message HARD. It was an obvious strategic shift for some reason.

@fatman76 you hearing anything similar?

QB

So the most injury prone QB on the team is still in good shape. We are one play away from our true freshman having to play. Or are we going to play some walkon so as to not get Smith hurt. You better get him 50% of the snaps in practice this week in order for him to be halfway ready.

Apparently There Are Anti-Semitic Israeli Army Reservists

Who knew? Is treason too harsh a description? Bibi should put them before a firing squad so he and Smoltrich and Ben-Gvir could personally shoot them. You’re either with them or against them and if you’re against them there is no limit to the hell these “most moral” men should rain down on you.

HIGH SCHOOL HOT BEDS OF WRESTLING

Even though I never saw a wrestling match until I attended Oklahoma State in 1960 I was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma (never lived there) as my uncle was a long time physician in Blackwell and brought me into this world. Perry is definitely the most successful small town in Oklahoma known for its wrestling but Blackwell 30 miles to the north is not shabby in this regard. There were at least 5 wrestlers from Blackwell during my 1960-64 stay in Stillwater. My favorite wrestler during my 4 years at Oklahoma State was Ronnie Clinton who was NCAA champion in 1962 at 167 pounds. He basically won his championship one handed as a plumbing chore caused severe damage to one of his hands. Ronnie was the original "Mr.Fast-twitch" and was almost impossible to ride as he was up and out as soon as the ref blew the whistle. Ronnie also placed 3rd in 1960 at 167 and 3rd in 1961 at 191 pounds. Ted Ellis was heavyweight champion in 1960 and was a 3x NCAA finalist. In 1959 he pinned his way to the finals where he met Bob Marella of Ithaca College who weight over 300 pounds and they battled to a 1-1 tie and then he outscored Marella 2-0 in overtime for the title. Bob Marella went on to a pro career where he went by the name of "Gorilla Monsoon". Jack Brisco wrestled during my time at Oklahoma State and he was a 2X National champion at 191 pounds. His younger brother Gerald wrestled one year at Oklahoma State but left school the following year due to hepatitis and injury and later they both wrestled pro for several years. Bill McDaniel also wrestled for Oklahoma State while I was there at 191#. He went into Medical school upon graduation and served as a naval physician eventually became an Admiral in the Navy. Three other wrestlers from Blackwell worth noting were Charles "Chuck" Hetrick who was a national champion in 1949 at 128 pounds. Jim Gregson was a National champion in 1949 at 175# and then after a
lengthy hiatus he placed 2nd at 191 pounds in 1956. I believe the hiatus was caused partly by the Korean war.
Finally, Ted Pierce from E. Blackwell st. in Blackwell, Oklahoma was a Big 8 champion and placed 4th at the 1958 NCAA his senior year at OSU. Ted went on to coach at Ponca City and was tragically killed in a car/truck accident in 1968 while he was driving to the Geary Tournament with some of his wrestlers. He was 29 at the time. The reason I know he grew up on E. Blackwell St. is because he was living a few
doors west of my uncle "Doc" Kinsinger and he was about the age of my older cousin who set me up to wrestle him in the neighborhood when I visited. That was my only wrestling match of my career and I recall it lasted about 10 seconds (Mercifully).

No. There’s No Way Israel Manipulates Our News.

This is proof of Hamas’s propaganda, not Israel’s. Western media gives us the unfiltered facts, the good and the bad, the successes and losses - well, the successes - of Israel’s moral struggle for survival. You do know, don’t you, that Israel is the most moral country in history and as Americans it is our duty to sacrifice ourselves to the well being of all Zionists.

I Can’t Believe

Hamas is forcing the IDF to commit these atrocities and war crimes. Fortunately the IDF is the most moral military in human history, so I guess they are the most moral atrocities and war crimes ever. So Israel has that going for it.

BYU fans so far

First time here to watch a game..staying in Orem close to university. Wife and 2 kids (2.5 and 1 years old). Mall right next to us and tons of places to eat. Super clean and very friendly people. Mall has a little kids place called fun zone. Former BYU athletic director Val Hale walked up to me and greeted me when he was with his grandson. Very nice gentlemen. Said he has a lot of respect for gundy and we chatted a bit. Very nice and welcoming. Then went across the street to eat and sat next to and older family and older kids. They greeted us and said they're happy to have us and then bought us some famous scones for dessert for a surprise. So far I can say it's been great! Also, due to the high Mormon population nearly everything is geared or at very least understanding of young kids. Highly recommend so far!
