Gundy is trying to outsmart everyone again, but at least this isn't as bad as the Nardo hire. Osborn will be coming in as the DL coach. He was the defensive coordinator at Charlotte this past season and they ranked #122 in scoring defense just ahead of OSU at #125.

The new defensive coordinator will be Grantham and his defense was ranked #73 the last time he coordinated a defense for Florida in 2021. Recently after 1 season with the New Orleans Saints in 2023, he was fired as the DL coach because the unit struggled to generate a pass rush most of the year and had breakdowns in their run defense. According to a Sports Illustrated article, the Saints had some uncharacteristic defensive issues in 2023. Only three teams had fewer than their 34 sacks. Opposing rushers often gashed them on off-tackle plays.
