The United States defeated India10-0 in the first round and then after losing their first three matches to Japan came on to defeat Japan 7-3.
57 kg. Thomas Gilman loses to world champ Takahachi 4-1
61 kg Kendrick Maple took it to overtime but lost on criteria 2-2. Looked like he had a takedown at the end of the match but it was challenged and he lost the challenge.
65kg Logan Stieber just out-classed at this weight by possibly one of the quickest wrestlers I have seen. He was down 8-0 but came back to lose 10-3.
70kg James Green starts the 7-0 run with an 8-5 win.
74kg Jordan Burroughs dec. 7-1
79kg Kyle Date wins by tf 10-0 on two four point moves in the 2nd period.
86kg David Taylor by tf 12-2
92kg J'den Cox with an 11-0 tf
110kg Kyle Snyder with a 10-0 tech fall
225kg Gwizdowski with 10-0 tech fall.

USA beats Azerbaijan 6-4 in the World Cup finals.At 57 Gilman loses 8-7. Stieber dec. 3X world champ Aliyeav 6-3 and was 3-1 over the weekend. Maple dec. Khasalov 6-2 at 61kg. James Green at 70kg loses 4-4 criteria. Jordan Burroughs pins Omarav. Dake wins 5-3 over Hasanov. David Taylor tech fall 12-2 over Costiev. J'den Cox loses 4-4 on criteria. Kyle Snyder has a 14-3 tech fall. Gwiz loses 6-4 to Magomedov.

USA! Congrats to the team. Wish Iran and Russia had been here, but the way we wrestled this weekend, I don't think it would have mattered.

Disappointed Alex didn't get a match, thought he might wrestle in the first dual today against Georgia. But Dake did have some big moves. BTW, in February Alex beat the same Azerbaijan wrestler 7-4.

I’ve been to the LA and Atlanta Olympic wrestling and Worlds in New York, Atlanta and Vegas and the crowd was always ready to chant USA. They rarely did at this World Cup . Taylor got them to do it once. They were into the matches just not the chant.

I was in Atlanta for the ‘96 World Cup. The Iranians were by far the loudest.

Anyone know the name of the song the Mongolian team came out to at the World Cup? Also Burroughs always came out to Coco movie theme. Both were cool.
