Listening to the Gundy show last night made me curious to look into TCU's offense a bit more. Gundy said they average 8+ yards a carry rushing, and their RBs average 6+ something per carry. That alone was pretty scary. Here are some random stats/observations after looking at their offensive performance this year (per ESPN.com)...
  • Duggan has thrown for 1305 yards with a 73.2% and an average of 10.3 yards per completion. He's thrown 14 TDs to just 1 interception. He's been sacked 7 times and averages about 320 yards per game that he's started this year.
  • Gundy was close on the rushing info..Kendre Miller has rushed for 474 yards so far at 6.9 a rush. In fact, here are the top 4 rushers' stats for TCU:
    • Miller (RB): 474 yards; 6.9 per rush; long of 69; 6 TDs
    • Duggan (QB): 204 yards; 6.4 per rush; long of 67; 3 TDs
    • Demercado (RB): 184 yards; 6.8 per rush; long of 63; 4 TDs
    • Bailey (RB): 113 yards; 9.4 per rush; long of 37; 1 TD
  • The top 7 players to post receiving numbers are WRs with #8 being their TE (4 receptions for 56 yards), and #9 being their RB (6 receptions for 40 yards). Derius Davis has posted the most touchdowns at 3, but it seems their passing production is spread out quite a bit. Here are more details of their top 4 receivers:
    • Johnston (WR): 26 receptions; 320 yards; 12.3 avg; long of 53; 1 TD
    • Barber (WR): 12 receptions; 233 yards; 19.4 avg; long of 73; 2 TDs
    • Davis (WR): 16 receptions; 216 yards; 13.5 avg; long of 80; 3 TDs
    • Henderson (WR): 6 receptions; 149 yards; 24.8 avg; long of 62; 1 TD
Interestingly enough, the "longs" of runs & receptions mostly came from their game against UTN (well, and SMU as well).

Despite our butt-kicking of them last year (63-17), Demarcado actually gained 118 yards against us (8.2 avg), and Barber was the WR who gained the most on us (only 3 receptions but for 89 yards, further showcasing that he's a high production receiver). Of course, that game was against Morris and NOT Duggan. In 2020, a game where we lost 29-22, Duggan threw for 265 (1 TD; 1 Int) and ran for 104 (2 TDs). Davis torched us in that game with 6 receptions for 139 yards and a TD.

I haven't sat down and watched any of their games start to finish and have really only seen highlights, but for those of you who have--what is your take on their offense? They seem to be able to hurt defenses in a lot of ways (in terms of personnel) with the key ingredient being Duggan. He's really seemed to be stepping up his game and has been steady and accurate (to say nothing of his potency as a runner). Davis' speed is tremendous--that 80 TD reception (against SMU) was actually him taking a quick forward toss from the QB while going in motion, cutting up field, and outrunning everyone to the house.

I was also really surprised to see how poorly we've down down in Ft. Worth. Here are the last 4 game scores:

2020: OSU 22; Frogs 29 - L
2018; OSU 24; Frogs 31 - L
2016: OSU 31; Frogs 6 - W
2014: OSU 9; Frogs 42 - L

The game prediction thread is overwhelmingly in favor of OSU (understandable of course as we're all fans), but man...I'm not feeling as confident after going through these stats!
