I looked through all the Big 12 coaching staffs to see how ours was age wise. I also wanted to get an idea of demographics.
TCU has 5 coaches in their 30’s
Tech has 5 in their 30’s
Baylor has 5
KU has 3
KSU 2
WVU has 2
ISU has 5
Ou has 5
Texas has 4
OSU has…..none.
A common theme among coaching staffs was that the coordinator positions generally were some of the oldest coaches on the staff. That makes sense in that they’ve worked their way up the coaching ranks and have more years.
I really think it’s time to freshen up the coaching staff. We need some younger guys to come in and bring fresh ideas and energy. I really feel that with NIL, having a younger coaching staff is going to be crucial in player retention. If the players can relate to their coach, all things else being equal, you should be able to keep that player.
