Tejas Prop 5 passing is a big, big deal and will most likely have a deleterious effect on Higher Ed research in Oklahoma. The Tejas public support of their State universities is glaring compared to "us Okies". The $3,900,000,000 endowment for research will undoubtedly bring in that much again, if not more, in private and corporate monies. This kind of investment in Higher Ed research also attracts industry looking to take advantage of partnering and collaboration.
It will put us at a serious disadvantage in recruiting Reseach talent and landing grants.
If you have been wondering why we don't have a shot at AAU, this is a pretty good example. Compare what they just did to our State's past 40 years of public support for our flagship Universities. Very sobering at the least.
