I was lucky enough to be on the floor for the game Monday.
When I first sat down and noticed the Abilene Christian team, i immediately became concerned. I have watched a lot of teams come to GIA and they were very impressive from a standpoint of tall, athletic and experienced. The game started just like i thought. We turned the ball over the first time down the court.
Not having a true point guard on the floor is detrimental to this team, big time. BT and John Michael Wright are not point guards.
Then we started jacking up threes and missing.
I am going to give Coach Boyton a little more time to get this team in shape. I also think that Miranda will help a lot. He can jump out of the gym and should be a big help both offensively and defensively.
Dailey and McBride also need some time to develop. Especially Dailey. He is very mature and just needs to learn to play the team game a little more.
Marsh was a positive as far as I am concerned. He's big and can score inside.
Let's give them some more time to get healthy and play together as a team. Yes, the shooting, both FT and 3 Pt is a valid concern.
