I was from Alabama and my family moved to Oklahoma after I graduated from high school in Mobile. I was a fan of the Crimson Tide and Auburn. Alabama had just won the National Championship with a obscure quarterback named Kenny Stabler.

The reason I chose OSU instead of OU was they actually wrote me personal letters inviting to tier the campus. OU sent just a form letter with no personal signature.

In any event, I got a blind date for the first game against Air Force. That was a brutally disappointing game. We missed two field goals from inside the 20 yard line, and the game ended in a 0-0 tie. We looked like a high school team compared to Bama. But, I fell in love with OSU, and made a lot of friends. I’m proud of the progress weve made in almost every area.

I might add, I saw my first wrestling match that year and went berserk. What a rush that was. Fred Fozzard, Geoff Baum, and others were great.
