Will get a couple updates ITT over the weekend!
So....

Forgot it was Mothers Day and I spent the weekend moving a boomerang kiddo into the basement - yes that actually happened. So no new pictures but some details from the build.

Here is where I got my plans:

I got the hardware kit from here as well after consultation with the guy who designed the tree attachment and knee brace - Michael Garnier.

We haven't put the structure up yet. Finishing playhouse for my grand daughter (potting shed for my wife).

Here is the exact spot on Google Earth - you can't see shit but you get an idea of the overall views it has from here:

On the low side it is 24' up. On the high side about 30'. We have held off on real rails for now, plan is this summer to get the house portion built. It sure looks a long way down.

We closed off the climb through hatch as the point of entry is now off a platform just behind where the boy is standing.

Here is the boy doing a little jig last summer as we took a break and had a picnic lunch up there on the 4th of July.

More pics next weekend.

You better get him to mow your yard. Geez man, aren't there some illegals in Portland that can take care of that for you?

Looks good David!! I am a little disappointed you didn't go with Pete Nelson of course you would have to drop 50k at least. I would love to just build a tree house that was my permanent home.

Pete is a riot. I am about 12k in. Will land around 16k I think...

Your hired! $300 a month for full service good for you?

$300! You're about to drop 16K on an Ewok shed, and $300 is all you got? That kid will be done with that thing in nine months. Then what? You're not only going to need someone to work on that jungle of a yard you've got, but you will need someone to take care of that elevated shed as well. You need to rethink this. Maybe donate that money to a local shelter or food bank.

@davidallen Need some updated pics of your treehouse you were building a few months ago.
So, we just finished the second major round on the treehouse, thought I would drop some pics here...

A sweet antique pulley for the bucket:

Sided it to match the house:

Saloon doors to the little porch out back:

Really proud of how the barn door turned out:

After the siding was up, needed to finish the inside walls. Got a deal on some tongue and groove cedar that looks great:

Not sure if I showed the ship's ladders before:

Thinking about windows this summer, but you know I am reaching the point where I think I want to move on to another project...

We do not. Only one neighbor has expressed anything like concern - "i'll call the county if you add electricity and plumbing" or some such...

You say it’s for the kids, but I’m betting it’s just a comfortable place to stay when mrs Allen banishes you from the house after Mexican food.

incredible. I did a modified tree fort. Basically a deck in between two trees about 8 foot high with railings and such. Used the same hardware you did for it to be supported by the trees. That ships ladder is beautiful! I looked at the plans for it and opted for a basic staircase until the kids get older. Was it hard to make?

I had a couple of missteps and ended up using some 2x12s for kindling. But other than that it was reasonably straight forward once I got a decent jig set up.
