Simply put, you don't find many athletes like Jeremiah Tshimanga at the high school level (Think slightly smaller built Ronnell Lewis). He is raw as a football player, but his athleticism gives him a very high ceiling whether he stays at LB or eventually gets spun down to DE. The biggest thing he will bring to the defensive side of the ball is the ability to make explosive plays (tackles for loss, sacks, big hits, etc.). He has the potential to grow into a standup hybrid OLB/DE like DeMarcus Ware.

There is a lot to like about his film. He attacks the line of scrimmage against the run. He shows the strength to get off blocks and the lateral movement to make plays sideline to sideline. When he gets to the ball carrier, he is a very strong and sure tackler. It's nice watching a defensive player put on a big hit while being sure to wrap up and take a guy to the ground hard. He was above average in coverage, flashing potential to be much better. He was a standout on special teams and should immediately step into that role at OSU.

If you knew nothing about him personally and only saw his film and knew his measurables, you would be really excited to have him in your program. The thing that puts it over the top with Jeremiah is knowing his character and the life story that has forged it. This young man is an overcomer, rooted deeply in his faith that is driven and dedicated. He will push guys ahead of him on the depth chart! The coaches are going to love coaching him as he will listen, work hard, give great effort, love the game, and will not give up.

There is no question that Jeremiah will have an impact on the football program at OSU on and off the field. The only unknown is when his on field role will become significant and at what position that will occur. He is currently 6'3" 232 pounds with a 38" vertical and 325+ bench. Let that set in for a minute.

NBC 5 did a special on him this fall. If you haven't seen it, you should watch it. This is a young man that has character. He will be a great fit in this program!

He is a player with definite NFL upside.
