He Fights.

My Leftist friends (as well as many ardent #Never Trumpers) constantly ask me if I'm not bothered by Donald Trump's lack of decorum.

They ask if I don't think his tweets are "beneath the dignity of the office." Here's my answer: We Right-thinking people have tried dignity. There could not have been a man of more quiet dignity than George W Bush as he suffered the outrageous lies and politically motivated hatreds that undermined his presidency.

We tried propriety: has there been a nicer human being ever than Mitt Romney? And the results were always the same.

This is because, while we were playing by the rules of dignity, collegiality and propriety, the Left has been, for the past 60 years, engaged in a knife fight where the only rules are those of Saul Alinsky and the Chicago mob.

I don't find anything "dignified," "collegial" or "proper" about Barack Hussain Obama's lying about what went down on the streets of Ferguson in order to ramp up racial hatreds because racial hatreds serve the Democratic Party.

I don't see anything "dignified" in lying about the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi and imprisoning an innocent filmmaker to cover your tracks. I don't see anything "statesman-like" in weaponizing the IRS to be used to destroy your political opponents and any dissent. Yes, Obama was "articulate" and "polished" but in no way was he in the least bit "dignified," "collegial" or "proper."

The Left has been engaged in a war against America since the rise of the Children of the '60s. To them, it has been an all-out war where nothing is held sacred and nothing is seen as beyond the pale. It has been a war they've fought with violence, the threat of violence, demagoguery and lies from day one and the violent take-over of the universities till today.

The problem is that, through these years, the Left has been the only side fighting this war. While the Left has been taking a knife to anyone who stands in their way, the Right has continued to act with dignity, collegiality and propriety. With Donald Trump, this all has come to an end.Donald Trump is America 's first wartime president in the Culture War.

During wartime, things like "dignity" and "collegiality" simply aren't the most essential qualities one looks for in their warriors.Ulysses Grant was a drunk whose behavior in peacetime might well have seen him drummed out of the Army for conduct unbecoming.

Had Abraham Lincoln applied the peacetime rules of propriety and booted Grant, the Democrats might well still be holding their slaves today. Lincoln rightly recognized that, "I cannot spare this man. He fights . .."General George Patton was a vulgar-talking, son-of-a-bitch.In peacetime, this might have seen him stripped of rank. But, had Franklin Roosevelt applied the normal rules of decorum then, Hitler and the Socialists would be five decades into their thousand-year Reich.Trump is fighting. And what's particularly delicious is that, like Patton standing over the battlefield as his tanks obliterated Rommel's, he's shouting,"You magnificent bastard, I read your book!"That is just the icing on the cake, but it's wonderful to see that not only is Trump fighting, buthe's defeating the Left using their own tactics and that's what they really hate.

That book is Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals a book so essential to the Liberals' war against America that it is and was the playbook for the entire Obama administration andthe subject of Hillary Clinton's senior thesis. It is a book of such pure evil, that, just as the rest of us would dedicate our book to those we most love or those to whom we are most indebted.

Trump's tweets may seem rash and unconsidered but, in reality, he is doing exactly what Alinsky suggested his followers do.First, instead of going after "the fake media"-- and they are so fake that they have literally gotten every single significant story of the past 60 years not just wrong, but diametrically opposed to the truth, from the Tet Offensive to Benghazi, to what really happened on the streets of Ferguson, Missouri, Trump isolated CNN. He made it personal.

Then, just as Alinsky suggests, he employs ridicule which Alinsky described as "the most powerful weapon of all"...Most importantly, Trump's tweets have put CNN in an untenable and unwinnable position. ... They need to respond. This leaves them with only two choices. They can either "go high" (as Hillary would disingenuously declare of herself and the fake news would disingenuously report as the truth) and begin to honestly and accurately report the news or they can double-down on their usual tactics and hope to defeat Trump with twice their usual hysteria and demagoguery. The problem for CNN (et al) with the former is that, if they were to start honestly reporting the news, that would be the end of the Democratic Party they serve.

It is nothing but the incessant use of fake news (read: propaganda) that keeps the Left alive.Imagine, for example, if CNN had honestly and accurately reported then-candidate Barack Obama's close ties to foreign terrorists (Rashid Khalidi), domestic terrorists (William Ayers), the mafia (Tony Rezko) or the true evils of his spiritual mentor, Jeremiah Wright's church.Imagine if they had honestly and accurately conveyed the evils of the Obama administration's weaponizing of the IRS to be used against their political opponents or his running of guns to the Mexican cartels or the truth about the murder of Ambassador Christopher Stevens and the Obama administration's cover-up.

So, to my friends on the Left and the #Never Trumpers as well do I wish we lived in a time when our president could be "collegial" and "dignified" and "proper"?Of course, I do. These aren't those times. This is war. And it's a war that the Left has been fighting without opposition for the past 50 years.

So, say anything you want about this president -- I get it -- he can be vulgar, he can be crude, he can be undignified at times.I don't care. I can’t spare this warrior. He fights for America! Fight on,you magnificent bastard!

Yeah, that’s the ticket! Become just like them. Become undignified and inhospitable in order to save dignity and hospitality. Makes perfect sense.

Fight fire with fire. Up to Trump the right has been fighting the left with flaccid linguini.
Wouldn’t it be better to fight fire with water? I assume fire in your analogy represents political evil. It suggests you think goodness is powerless in the face of evil, that if you want your side to win the struggle for America’s soul it must become evil. If that happens what has been accomplished? Is it victory if your side “wins” but we are no longer the land of the free? Is the ultimate political goal to beat the other side (using their own tactics) or preserving our liberty?

Was it dignified when Obama told the country an Ambassador of the United States was killed along with three others because of a video? Was it dignified when Obama, and make no mistake he did, used the IRS to target conservative groups? Was it dignified when Obama said the average healthcare premium would be reduce by $2500 or that the people could keep their doctor and their insurance? Was it dignified when Obama escalated racial tensions to times not seen since the Civil Rights Movement. Was it dignified when Obama used our nations intelligence and law enforcement agencies to target an opponents political campaign? Was it dignified when Obama told every business owner that worked their ass off to build their business they didn't build it? Is it dignified for the liberal MSM to purposely lie to the American people every single minute of the day? Is it dignified for Democrats to willfully ignore our laws and then act outraged when they are called on it? Is it dignified to try and label people racist for merely wanting our borders secured and to know who is entering our country? Seeing as how the answer to each and everyone of those question is a resounding NO maybe you can understand the frustration and give a shit attitude of those of us on the right. Trump does not act in a manner that is seen as traditionally Presidential but he is leading this country down the right path and that is all that counts.

Trump is helping take the country back from those who make their living infringing liberty and leading us toward authoritarianism.

No, not a single one of those things was dignified. The suggestion being made by others in this thread is for your side to follow the same script which you found so horrible. I guess the thinking is it’s OK if your side does it, but not OK when they do it. Isn’t that the meaning of “fight fire with fire?”

Lol. The Heritage Foundation champions less government and lower taxes and credits Trump with advancing that agenda more than any other president in modern times, including Ronald Reagan.

I think I will take the Heritage Foundation's view on this matter and not yours.

You need to put aside your personal animosities and hang ups and give credit where credit is due.

Ponca you seem like a thoughtful person but Wow!

You are so naive to what the hell is going on with the left.

Dignity and decorum will win absolutely nothing but the destruction of this great country.

We can fight the left by doing to them what they want to do to us. The difference that you are missing is you can get down and dirty, fight mean as hell and still have truth and righteousness on your side.

I have not been shy at giving credit where and when it is justified. Donald Trump has done a few good things. By the same token he has also done a few things which are detrimental to our liberty in the long run. None of which are pertinent to the argument I am advancing in this thread, to wit: the authoritarian tactics of the Left should be countered by anti-authoritarian tactics by the Right, assuming the Right actually harbors anti-authoritarian sentiment. When the Right embraces the authoritarian tactics of the Left as a means toward victory it shows the Right is not as anti-authoritarian as it wants us to believe, what it really wants is victory no matter the cost. Utilizing authoritarian tactics as a means to victory will by definition lead to authoritarianism, regardless of which side wins. To those few of us remaining who view liberty as the ultimate political victory it really doesn’t matter which authoritarian team wins because liberty will be lost.

The best way to stop forest fires is when the firemen set back fires to stop the inferno.

My father and the US military taught me there are two ways to fight---1) fair and 2) to win. I've seen the fair way the repubes have fought the leftists since the 60's. It would thrill me to no end to see the democrat party and their bands of leftists annialated. The best way to do that is use their tactics against them. Decorum can resume afterwards.

What people like you miss or just flat out ignore is the left doesn't give a damn about decorum, dignity, rules, regulation or laws when it comes to advancing their agenda. They will look you right in the eyes and lie to you, knowing full well you know it's a lie, then become outraged that you are calling them on their lie.
The only way to fight people like that is to get as down and dirty as they will. How do you fight forest fires? With fire. How do you win a war? You become just as brutal as they are killing more of them than they kill of you. People like you like to think the US should be the nice guy and never stoop to their level but that is not only naïve it's stupid. In WWII the allies defeated the Axis powers by being more brutal than the axis powers were. We targeted civilian population and killed millions in order to win that war. If people with your beliefs had been in charge we would be speaking German.
Liberals want to change our way of life. Everything from taxing the hell out of us, legislating what happens in bedrooms, the green new deal, healthcare and all the other BS socialist ideas they have. Personally I do not want that and II will oppose what in my opinion is the destruction of the US. This country was founded on the idea of the individual, not the collective. If I hurt someone's little feelers, I insult some leftist loon, do not act dignified or do not follow decorum so be it.

I was writing my post and didn't see this. Could not agree with you more.

"War is cruelty. There is no use trying to reform it. The crueler it is, the sooner it will be over."

General William Tecumseh Sherman

This is what pisses me off when we send our troops into places like Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Viet Nam, etc. If we feel the need to use our military the only concern we should have is to kick the ever loving hell out of whoever it is in the shortest possible time, while at the same time providing the safest situation logically possible for our troops. And for those that want to accuse me of wanting to use nuclear weapons, don't be stupid.

If I correctly understand what you are saying, in your opinion the only way to defeat an evil opponent is by using their evil tactics yourself. You do not consider yourself to be evil, that’s reserved for your opponent, but your evil opponent’s tactics are the only route to victory, and, even though the tactics are evil when they use them they are somehow acceptable when you use them because you are not evil. Am I understanding you correctly? So evil defeats evil, therefore evil wins.

“Decorum can resume afterwards.” By what method would that happen? Would not the evil victor, regardless of which evil team won, consider it needs to continue down the path that secured its victory, that it must keep its foot on the throat of its enemy, lest it rise up again? Would not the “winner” recognize its path to victory was via evil, and understand the only way it could stay on top is by employing the methods that got it there? Can you show me the method by which decorum would be resumed?

You keep missing the fact that people on the right do not want to control anyone, we want to be left alone to live our lives as we see fit. Those on the left want to control the individual, control thier actions and tell them how they should live their lives. And yes decorum, civility or whatever else you want can return after the rights of the individual are protected and guaranteed. After WWII the US went back to civility, it's only when evil raises it's ugly head that we take action.

I respectfully disagree with your assessment of today’s Right. Following Trump’s lead they have embraced every bit as much big government collectivism as the Left, just a slightly altered version. It appears to me your hatred of the Left (which is completely understandable, by the way) has so clouded your vision you think any supposed opposition to it is “good.” From my libertarian perspective collectivist Right-wing authoritarianism is lifting it’s veil because it knows many people such as yourself will fail to recognize it. It’s like the Left\Democrats did under Obama, it threw off its mask and unashamedly showed the world its true intention. People like Syskatine lapped it up. Now the big government so-called conservative Republicans, under protection of DJT, have done the same.

This was fun! But now my wife has me running errands this afternoon. I’ll be happy to resume this discussion this evening.

"To anger a conservative, lie to him. To anger a liberal, tell him the truth."
~Teddy Roosevelt

Was nothing more cringe worthy than watching Bush I & II, along with Dole, McCain and Romney try to be polite while getting kicked in the ass. Never will forget McCain rebuking some announcer who introduced him as the next president, beating Barack Hussein Obama, because he included "Hussein" in the announcement. Will never forget the rodeo clown with an ex-rodent in chief mask on, being fired for "disrespecting the president, yet when he wore a GWB mask not a word was said by the leftos. Never forget Joe Wilson speaking the truth about obysmal care and being accused of being racist by the leftos and derided by the RINOS for breaking decorum and being a meanie. What a bunch of spineless turds we had placed our faith in previously. They campaign on promises they never intend to fulfill and always settle for less while the socialist campaign on promises they fully expect to pass and pass to a greater degree of impact then they campaigned on.

Trumps attitude has emboldened people to come out in support of him and his path. The fights he is fighting now should have been leveled long ago, but somehow people confused dignity, politeness and decorum with "turning the other cheek," which was actually just nothing more than exposing more of your body to be abused. I've come to the conclusions that if the left had their way there would be very little rule of law as most LEO would resign, they would steal my 401K, raise my taxes to cover their socialist social engineering programs and use the willing media to basically call everything I've every believed in about this country, the constitution, the founders, the bevy of opportunities and much more as racist and colonialist. So screw them, its fantastic they are getting shit thrown back in their faces and made to like it.

One last thing as to what a bunch of whiney, limp wristed effeminate loser they are one needs to look no further than this hurricane drama and the diversion of money to border control. They started whining before they knew if the hurricane would make landfall or not and on top of that the ex-rodent in chief moved money around at a much greater clip than Trump just did, yet once again not a peep out of the socialist gang.

Bearcat, I totally agree with the sentiment on war. You go to win...old testament style, or you don't go at all. You look at great military leaders and they always tried to act preemptively not lay out some ROE's that hamstrung their abilities and get their troops killed needlessly.

The fact that every time Ike got another star he got attacked and then Patton had to save his ass illustrates the difference between a politician and a warrior. While Ike was a great leader he "played nice" with all the powers and appeased Montgomery who was a fool and let Stalin have full reign at the end of the war and literal rape of Berlin that we eventually had to stop. Then mysteriously Patton died of a car wreck in Germany. Beware the Military Industrial Complex is sound advice BUT keep the Generals that fight handy because they will always be needed eventually

Very well articulated.

Great analogy.

I think Trump got a little carried away and misused the word 'order' when really meant to say 'want'.

Since he didn't actually order any company to do anything I don't think it is something to be worked up over. But I realize hand wringing over every thing Trump is the norm and isnt going to change with the never Trump crowd.

Try this one.

Oh, and some of his staff insist he has the authority to order companies around.

You are barking up the wrong tree if you are lumping me in with the never-Trump crowd. But you are absolutely correct that his “innocent” authoritarian remarks make me cringe. They should make all of us wring our hands, and he should be told in no uncertain terms they are not acceptable. That’s how people concerned about preserving their liberty should respond. The fact that his supporters shrug off his authoritarian tendencies only encourages him to ramp them up.

Why dont you give us an example of a dignified politician that can counter the lefts assault against capitalism and constitutional rights.

Where is this brave person that is so classy and intelligent they can convert the democraric socialists and stop them from using their Alinsky tactics to destroy their opponents.

Shifting gears, I see. Ron Paul is the only one I can think of, and he got ridiculed by his own party.

Here’s where the Right Wing got it wrong. It capitulated to the Left’s “good intentions,” conceding the moral high ground from the beginning. The Right accepted the “good intentions” of the Left were morally proper, but argued instead that those intentions need to be paid for. Look at the Green New Deal. The Right’s primary objection is the cost, thus conceding it would be a good thing if only it weren’t so expensive.

I would posit it was in the 60’s the argument turned from being individual liberty vs collectivist tyranny, and became which statist regime could best administer an authoritarian government.

By abandoning the moral argument for economic and social liberty the Right gave the advantage to the Left. The Left, being fundamentally authoritarian, persuaded many Americans their good intentions were more important than their liberty. The Right was essentially mute, and in a desire to be as “good intentioned” as the Left, it began to say it could be better at running a country. The debate became which side would be more efficient. The idea of protecting and preserving liberty became an afterthought.

The result has been a slow ramping up of governmental power over our lives with the only argument being which big-government statists would tell everybody else what to do.

DJT is just the latest in the assembly line.
