WTF Oklahoma?

What were you expecting? Obviously we had to shoot ourselves in the foot and thwart the will of the voters.

I think you can still grow your own smokable plants though with a scrip, which is probably a way better deal anyway.

I had heard somewhere that a scrip for MM would keep you from qualifying for a CCL in OK. Anyone know if that's true or not?

i think the thc limits are what create the de facto ban???

19.A single serving of a medical marijuana product processed or dispensed shall not exceed ten (10) milligrams active tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) Medical marijuana products and Medical Marijuana Concentrate processed or dispensed shall have a THC content of not more than twelvepercent (12%). Mature marijuanaplantsshall have a THC content of not more than twenty percent (20%).

OK Dept of health bans smokeable medical MJ

Seriously. WTF

Stupid

not true

8. Medical marijuana may be sold in smokable form, but the same restrictions on public consumption of tobacco will be applied to marijuana.

Statute says may AND allows Dept of Health to regulate selling

Looks like they regulated sale of leafy green smokeable away. Haven’t had a chance to dig into final regulations yet. Maybe it allows sell of smokeable concentrate or MJ juice.

More interesting issue is the other apparently amended rule.

Dispensaries must hire a pharmacist. Haven’t read the rule yet so, not sure what consequences of that might be. Is the pharmacist the only person that can actually dispense? Do pharmacists have a national regulation that prohibits them from being involved in dispensing federal Schedule I drugs?

This might be a Trojan horse.

link to board meeting

58:09 into the meeting is when the dude proposes the amendment and it gets seconded

the lady giving summary of the rules did a great job

then this guy wants to jump in and be daddy
with his amendment

despite overwhelming support of the people

what an ahole

You just gotta love our state GOP-controlled Dept. of Health. They're killing it by regulations. Elections don't really count that much around here. It's so objecionable hoiw these authoritarian

I'm skeptical they'll get the recreational issue on the November ballot this late in the year. It would be so so sweet if they did, particularly after Ms Fallin moved the election to mid summer to depress turnout.

This isn’t what we voted for. @syskatine write up a lawsuit. stat.

Funny you say that....

We’ve covered this before. National Dems have soiled the party so terribly that Oklahoma can’t elect reasonable Dems so we end up some incompetent Reps. I blame Low IQ Maxine Waters, Chuck, Nancy, and pocahontas.

That is some messed up logic right there.

Democrats responsible for incompetent Republicans running and being elected.

Wow.
Yep...that’s how it works, right? Find a way to blame everything else on the other team.

Not for me. I’m not into team politics. It certainly seems to be how it is working for you though.

Sarcasm meter is certainly off.

I voted for a few Ds in the last elections. I have not voted for Mary...

I do think what I said is correct though. The dark blue state Dems are so far left that our Oklahoma Dems would seem like republicans. Many people have moved to straight party.

The fact that I could conceive of any number of people seriously advancing such an argument probably says more about the nature of this board than my sarcasm meter, honestly.

Sarcasm doesn’t translate well on a message board, that’s why using blue text is a common practice to indicate sarcasm.

Where did you find info that the members of the board are Republicans? I haven't been able to find their names or political affiliations on the Health dept website.

Tom Bates is the Interim Commissioner.

Oklahoma Interim Commissioner of Health
Tom Bates became the interim commissioner on April 2, 2018, after serving as Governor Fallin's special adviser on child welfare and Pinnacle Plan implementation. Prior to that, he was in the Attorney General’s office for 15 years.”

I’m not saying he has much, if any, impact on this decision, but it’s likely he’s a Republican I’d think it’s safe to say. Again, it’s obviously irrelevant if he isn’t a votIng voice.

This is the Institutional Review Board, maybe them?:

Smoking is bad for your health, including marijuana. But unless the health department is planning on banning tobacco products as well, this just reeks of trying to circumvent the will of the people via rule making.
