Wrestling scholarships per HS athlete

Good piece on the ratio of high school athletes to college scholarships by sport. Wrestling doesn't fare so well....

That's a lot of numbers along with some fancy graphics thrown at us but what does it mean? I put all the numbers in a spread sheet and here's what I found:
2:16% of Female HS athletes get an athletic scholarship
1:58% of Male HS athletes get an athletic scholarship

That's a 0.58% difference; that's a pretty big difference. I thought Title IX was about gender equity. I guess it's the old "All college athletes are equal, but some college athletes are more equal than others."

Yeah but it's very skewed with football. When you take out 26,000 scholarships for one sport it looks more even

how about looking at it in terms of dollars? More full scholarships in football? Is that equalizer? I don't know.

It would appear to me the percentage difference is due to the equation based on that the same number of scholarships given just less girls playing high school sports.
