WrestleStat Preseason Rankings!

while I don't mind, I still can't figure out the part in the algorythym that allows Kaid to be ranked above Gross.

This is a great resource to look at lineups now and in the future. As others have posted, our team should be very strong in 2018-2019. PSU will be tough as usual, losing Retherford and McCutheon but having Cassar, Beard, Berge, Teasdale and RBY available to plug in. Ohio State drops off a little with their big guns graduating. And Iowa will be improved with Lee and Warner hitting the lineup. Can we win it all? How many team points do you think will be needed?

I would put the number at 125. PSU could easily get 90-100 from Nolf, Joseph, Hall, Nickal and Nevilles. Their other five weight classes will be made up of a group of Cassar, Cortez and about seven Freshman.

That's a lot of points but I think OSU could do it. They have 7 weights that could be finalists. Obviously they won't all be.

125- Piccininni or Fix. Only Lizak and Soriano rank above as underclassman. Fix is a contender at either 125/133
133-Brock or Fix-Brock is right there with Gross and Micic.
141-Brock/Lewallen/Moran-This weight clears out big time after this year. Lewallen just beat the top rated underclassman (Eierman) and narrowly lost to McKenna.
149-Martinez/Lewallen/Moran-Martinez has previously beat the top rated underclassman, Thomson, 12-2.
157-Joe Smith?-At the end of last year, he was well behind Nolf and Kemerrer. He has enough talent to close the gap in a RS year.
165-Chandler Rogers-He will likely be ranked 3-5. He is capable of pinning anybody including Massa or Joseph.
197-Weigel-Another weight that really clears out. Only Kollin Moore and Weigel will return out of the current top 12. This will actually greatly benefit PSU.

The other three weight classes will likely return starters from this year and each weight has enough talent to potentially reach AA.

I should again qualify the "potential" for 7 weights as finalists and all 10 weights as All-Americans. It won't happen, but if it did......

Nice. I think over the last several years we've seen that finalists are the key. The scoring at nationals is very top heavy and it seems like having multiple AAs just won't win you the team title.
