Why would you brag about getting the young vote?

What do you consider young? When does one start to know shit from shinola? I’m not convinced in the least that winning the old vote is anything to brag about lol

The battle for Generation Z will be one for the ages.

Both of these articles are about a year old but thought this was an interesting snippet from one:

"How do we categorize a generation that presents common ideals of both conservatives and liberals? Maybe we don’t. Maybe we need to rethink what it is to be “conservative” and “liberal” and consider that in the future the distinction will be different. This generation just might disrupt the huge US bipartisan divide we are experiencing now. And maybe we would be better for it.

Article 1: Conservative or Liberal? For Generation Z, it's not that simple

Article 2: Why Democrats should be losing sleep about Generation Z

On one hand I think, "who the heck cares what these youngsters believe, they haven't experienced anything" but then realize that they will be a big group voting in the next few elections. Both Dems and Pubs will be scratching and clawing to get these people to vote for their side.

That seems odd to me. Who would want to win by convincing a demographic that doesn’t know shit from shinola?
I'm a living example. My first Presidential election was 1976. Carter vs. Ford. I registered Democrat and voted for Carter. 4 years later I graduated from OSU and the prime rate was 18%, hostages had been in captivity in Iran for a year and just about every graduate I knew could barely get an interview much less a good job offer.

Reagan got elected and the job opportunities went off the charts. Never voted for another Democrat since.
