Why is Trump so afraid to debate?

Why would Trump debate anyone? He's well ahead in the polls and gains nothing. While I don't like it I'm not stupid enough to not understand it.
I do find it funny you try to make a big deal out of Trump not debating while you ignore the fact JFK Jr is raising hell about Biden not debating. I would actually like to see Biden in a debate. Biden might could give Fetterman a run for his money.

From his perspective why should he debate? He’s got the Republican nomination locked up just like the Democrats have always wanted. He’s vulnerable on several issues and if he debated they would be brought front and center for the low information Republican voters to see and it might put his sure thing in jeopardy.
