Why does Trump continue this Twittering stuff

Same reason presidents went on radio and TV when they come into vogue. It's the ability to say what you want directly without filter. Twenty years from now there will be some new method of communications presidents will employ.

I would like to see more calculated messaging on Twitter. More focus less throw paint at the wall and see what art was made. I get how it messages right now. It reads a lot like the coral.

I take Trump's good and bad characteristics as one whole that works together to make him what he is, sort of like ying and yang. The mainstream media and the Democrat Party would love to have a Republican president always attempting to stand above the fray and act large all while getting his ass beat up by them every day, ala GWB. But because of Trump's large ego and his complete unwillingness to accept any zing from them whatsoever, he literally goes to battle with them on...Every. F'ing. Thing. To me, this is something I'm willing to accept, especially if he's able to deliver on at least part of his agenda against the establishment. In fact, I enjoy watching the dynamic at work. Trump keeps the left in a perpetual state of angst which is befitting.

I agree with all this. But at this point I would like to see less cringe inducing posts.

Agree, but much on of the cringing is from the media (primarily owned by a small group of multinational corporations and billionaires) telling people to cringe

Occasionally that backfires though, like Stephen Colbert having to tell off his audience for improperly laughing.

The democrat memo to the nut jobs can fluctuate on a dime at a moment's notice.

Truth. Here is a link that demonstrates just how much mainstream voters couldn't care less about a lot of things that send the mainstream media and it's following of malcontents into an uproar. Millions of voters just see Trump as trying to carry out what they voted for him to do as president. Oh, so president Trump sent left-wing loons into a tizzy today? Then good, as that goes along with carrying out what I voted for him to do.

That's actually the British spelling. There are two different spellings for the same word. You're welcome.

Sys and BJ are a pair of fellow sophisticates around here. Masters of the Queen's English! Lol.

Trolling. Sometimes it's very effective and other times it's disturbing.

Honest question....not poking and prodding.

I seem to recall in the past you having the opinion that Bannon was behind much of the twitter strategy. Do you think there is still a cohesive grand strategy behind the twittering or is that just unvarnished Donald, trolling....effective or distrurbing.

OR is it something else? Like there is a Bannon strategy, but Trump won't stay on message because he's not gonna be anyone's puppet?

This, in my opinion.

Sometimes brilliant trolling, but again it's mixed in with ego driven personal vendetta goofy stuff. Shit, maybe that's by design to keep people off balance. I don't know.

I do believe the Russia thing rattles him - specifically because it's likely baseless but won't go away. I think in that regard, it's been an effective strategy to keep him distracted with personal digs at democrats etc.

Whatever, it remains fascinating political theater and I hope he never stops tweeting.

Thanks, man.

I don't disagree.

In the larger picture, my gut level feeling (and just that) is that Trump is beginning to conclude that he and only he can effectively "sell" his "brand"....and the brand is now "President Trump". I think he may very well be increasingly freezing out Bannon because of all the talk that Bannon was a puppet master....almost like Donald was watching SNL and making staff decisions in reaction to them. Kinda looks like Spicer is getting frozen out for the same reason.

I hope he keeps on doing it for the full 8 years.
If he doesn't learn to be selective in what he tweets, I think he's unlikely to win again in 2020. You have to remember that it wasn't his core supporters (who love his Twitter rampages) that won the general election for him - it was moderates and working class democrats in the rust belt. If he doesn't prove himself to be anything more than a non-PC president, he's going to lose in 3.5 years.

Just to be clear - I hope Trump is successful because he'll likely be running against Elizabeth Warren, and the thought of her as president scares me beyond belief.

Agree, but at the rate the world is tanking militarily, morally, and with no relief in sight, any discussion of '20 election is not relevant at this point. Cynical, yes; realistic, probably.

If he freezes out Bannon and fires Priebus, it'll be fascinating to see where he goes from there.
