Why aren’t we discussing the Jacksonville shooter?

I propose a “mass shooting” thread. If it’s less than a dozen deaths, BFD, probably doesn’t need its own thread.

Someone from the horrible disgusting world of online games snaps. Nothing more to see, except that they are all pathetic people.

You guys ever play online games? People threatening to kill you and 10 year olds dropping the N word every few seconds.

I've actually never played online games. Or really much in person after college - Super Mario 3 was about the pinnacle of my game playing.

The first person games make me motion sick in about 30 seconds.

Now this guy was just an a-hole. He lost, got butt hurt, and decided to end the life of the better players. What a chode. And nothing was stopping him short of a good guy with a gun. That and maybe someone teaching him to value and respect human life.

This may or may not be true but I heard it... That the guy he initially targeted beat him in a match and was pretty brutal with the trash talk. Now, trash talk doesn't warrant a death sentence. But I hope people do stop to consider the effect their words have on others. Be gracious in victory and you have a much better chance for your opponent to be gracious in defeat. (again, don't misconstrue what I'm saying here. The trash talk or victim is not to blame. The a-hole who pulled the trigger is.)

Right now, “they” are all incensed at how long the flag was at half staff for John McCain.

If this could just be in a holding pattern for another day or three, it’ll be time to rage about it.

Why is the FBI involved in the investigation? Serious question. Is it because he's from a different state? Did the FBI investigate the Lake Hefner shooting also?

I'm all for gun control.

It's very clear Muslims and liberals in America have no business owning a firearm.

Actually the way I read the article is that there were 2 reports made to the FBI prior to the shooting and the FBI deemed the shooter's videos as first amendment rights.

Nothing about the FBI involved in the investigation of the shooting.
That makes more sense. FBI involved in this one because shooter crossed state lines.

https://people.howstuffworks.com/fbi.htm

Crimes that specifically fall under FBI jurisdiction include those in which the criminal crossed state lines, violations of federal controlled substance laws, and other violations of federal laws.

It doesn't "take over" cases from local agencies. If a crime partly involves FBI jurisdiction, or if it is serious enough to require FBI involvement, then the FBI forms a task force in which agents will work closely with state and local police.

Cool. Just didn't remember anything being said about the FBI being involved here and was wondering what the difference was that would bring in the FBI.

Yeah, I jumped the gun on the KFOR article. Assumed it's common for LLE to call the FBI and say "what do you have on this guy", unsure what other assistance was provided.

They do a lot of crime scene forensic type stuff. Since a local police department rarely encounters a mass shooting and the FBI works them all of the time, they bring their forensic expertise in which helps the local department a bunch.
