Why One-in-Four Modern Women Have Mental Health Issues and Take Drugs

February 10, 2017 By Mike Cernovich

More women than ever are unhappy and using drugs. This is not my opinion, it’s science.

According to a recent study, “More than one in four women aged 16-24 reported symptoms of common mental health conditions the previous week – a rise from 21% when the study was last carried out in 2007.” Previous studies showed that 1-in-4 women were on antidepressants.

Feminism has destroyed the nuclear family by marginalizing fathers and encouraging unrealistic expectations on women. Women do not have a realistic expectation of themselves or of the men they date or marry.

Women are told they must strive to “have it all,” which means a powerful job, huge family while being married to alpha male at the office who is also a beta male husband at home who does chores, even though science shows that women are less fulfilled by men who do chores at home.

NZ constantly spreads and posts false information on here. You know up front, just about every time that if he posts a story, it's a waste of time. If you read his "news" it'll be a bullshit propoganda piece that backs up his John Birch world view.

Who could have imagined that young women receiving fake-validations from posting selfies on social media might have consquenses?

"Psychological distress in women aged 16-24 is at an all-time high, with record numbers admitting to harming themselves to relieve their distress, according to an alarming study.

Experts say young women are now a “high-risk group” and point to links between mental illness and violence or sexual abuse, and possible pressures from the rise of social media. This has prompted calls from researchers for more funding to protect the nation’s mental health.

The Adult Psychiatric Morbidity survey of mental health and wellbeing, carried out every seven years across England, reveals soaring rates of mental illness among young women, who are suffering from a range of common mental health problems, including depression and anxiety. Despite going to their GP for help, only 20% received treatment in the last 12 months, according to the study."

Show me a "feminist" and I'll show you a BITCH.

My wife is a beautiful, strong, independent-thinking woman. She has a PhD and is an awesome mother. She's also nice and sweet. And she thinks "feminists" like Leah Dunham are full of crap.

That article is spot on. I feel for American women who have bought into the "feminist" bullshit.

my wife is a beautiful soul and terrific mother. She's amazing. She's well educate, but fortunately does not have to work. Anyway, it does seem like women have enormous pressure placed upon them to do it all/have it all/be it all. It's not fair to them.

We got back together a month ago. Turns out the secret is to treat her like shit.
All thanks goes to this support group I found https://www.reddit.com/r/marriedredpill/

Dear ostate illustrated :

I have spent ten years here but I've found something way more interesting and applicable to my life. I'll be spending my time on this Reddit forum, not posting, just reading. It's been great, see you on the flip side.

That's an ad hominem attack --- it doesn't address or refute the science showing declining female happiness levels.

I don't give a shit about whatever propaganda you're posting now - I'm just trying to warn other posters from wasting time thinking there's a pretense of objectivity or truthfulness with you. You wasted my time before with your propaganda and I'm kindly warning other posters what you constantly do. Wth is that doing on a politics board anyhow?

It's not propaganda, it's a peer-reviewed study published here:

"The NBER is the nation's leading nonprofit economic research organization. Twenty-six Nobel Prize winners in Economics and thirteen past chairs of the President's Council of Economic Advisers have held NBER affiliations. The more than 1,400 professors of economics and business now teaching at colleges and universities in North America who are NBER researchers are the leading scholars in their fields."

I can post science, but I can also post memes if those are easier for you.

This is outstanding sleight of hand. Start with the claim that women have mental health issues because of feminism, men doing chores and selfies. You post a link to a working paper that explicitly states it is not peer reviewed, you call it peer reviewed anyway. The paper makes no claims about feminism, chores, or selfies and further makes the caveat that contrary to the subjective measures of happiness the objective measures show women as being happier.

And indeed, Figure 7 shows that contrary to the subjective well-being trends we document, female suicide rates have been falling, even as male suicide rates have remained roughly constant through most of our sample. As such, from the early 1970s to the mid-1990s the ratio of female-to-male suicide declined. It is plausible that the happiness of those at the extreme tail that is represented by suicide may have risen, while the happiness of those at the median may have fallen. Equally, this may indicate changing responses to the well-being question for a given level of happiness. In either case, the link between reported well-being (a subjective measure) and suicide (an objective measure) has changed over time.

I cannot tell you how many of my wife and daughters' girlfriends take some form of medication or the other to fight depression, anxiety or whatever. None of this shocks me in the least.

I'll say this for you. You are consistent. Kind of like a reliable bowel movement.

Actually, recent data from the CDC shows that suicide rates are up pretty much across the board in the U.S, black men being the only exception according to this article (I picked one of the lib's impeccable sources btw:D). The largest increases were American Indians and whites. In fact, white males made up 83% of all suicides in 2014.

Something I find particularly amusing is the assumption that this is the result of a society that "does not treat mental health with compassion." That's a load of crap. While more compassion isn't a bad thing we as a society have more today than we did 15-20 years ago. Yet, rates are increasing. The point being that other societal factors are at play. Particularly disturbing to me was the increase among 10-14 year olds. Young girls saw an increase of 200%.

Cyberbullying and social media is the culprit behind the increase in youth suicide. Its horrible.

I fall in this boat as well. I plan to restrict my kids access to social media as they age. I'll probably lose the battle but with the good it has provided there sure has been some bad imo, and I feel it will be in their best interest.

This made me think of you:

If you look at the raw numbers from the CDC reports everyone is using in their reporting, the numbers are pretty flat over time. Also, when you take emotion out of it, the numbers point to kids being a lot more resilient that we give them credit.

People writing the articles are padding with claims of things like 100% increases blah blah, blah so their articles to push all the right buttons. People under 20 commit suicide at a rate of about 3 per 100,000. Adults are like 17 per 100,000 on average.

I think any explanation beyond shit is ****ed up and bullshit, is unnecessary.

Do you believe the increase over the last 15 years is an anomaly and things will go back to historical averages?
