With Coach Nick Saban retiring this year along with other coaches like John Smith, how long do you see Gundy coaching? I wonder if he'll stay around much longer. This year he's got a veteran group, but after this year it's going to be a reboot. Add to the fact that NIL is a big part of today's game, I wonder if he just gets tired of everything.
Additionally, this year he put his house on the market with all of his kids out of the house (which could be a sign). I could see him becoming a TV analyst like Urban Meyer, but I could also see him pulling completely away to enjoy retirement (i.e. having the time to go hunting, fishing, and seeing his kids play sports).
I could also see Gundy try to hand off the program to someone like Todd Monken. I think Gundy would feel like he could trust someone like Monken making it easier to retire.
Whenever Gundy decides to call it quits, I hope we take a hard look at Monken. I truly believe he would be a great head coach. He's definitely had his time in the NFL and at big time programs like Georgia. I think he knows what it would take to continue to build this program. He also has stated he views Stillwater as his second home.
