Did they really think he was gonna get Mexico to pay for this?

Really? Could someone explain to me the thought process behind believing Biff would build a huge wall and Mexico would pay for it?

Trump repeatedly assured his supporters that Mexico would pay for the border wall. Peña Nieto disagreed; on Jan. 25, the Mexican president told his nation in a televised address that they "would not pay" for the wall, according to The Los Angeles Times.

In the call with Peña Nieto on Jan. 27, Trump asked him to knock it off: "If you are going to say that Mexico is not going to pay for the wall, then I do not want to meet with you guys anymore because I cannot live with that."

Trump also said he had to push for Mexico to pay for the wall because he had promised it for so long.

"I have to have Mexico pay for the wall — I have to," he said. "I have been talking about it for a two-year period."

Maybe his charisma and intellect was so keen that Mexico would like, just fork over a few billion? Were we going to invade Mexico take their oil production? Ya'll thought there was a wall fairy that would pay Mexico, then they'll pay us? How was this going to happen in the real world? Levy a tarrif and Mexico pays us money to avoid it?

Or do you guys even think like that, maybe you just enjoyed the shit talking and believe like a religious conviction? Could someone explain it to me?

Hope and change and all that shit, huh anon?

Well we got pulled out of the recession and millions got health insurance. Something happened. This is what I'm talking about. Best y'all can do is... quote Obama?

You just felt it? Jesus would drop Pesos over Congress?

Yeah, reliving past president's mistakes is my schtick.

Yeah, that was awesome. Especially considering that it was all free and that it reduced the rates of those that had already been responsibly paying in.

Funny how insurance works.

And no -- as a self employed individual, I'll tell you there has NEVER been free health care. It's unfair that employers are expected to fund health care. How about consumers and taxpayers paying for their own health care for a change? I've been paying for:

my health insurance premium
my families health insurance premium
my employees' health insurance premium
a chuck of their familes' health insurance premium
my deductible
my co-pay
the insurer's overhead
the insurer's profit

I am stunned that the general public thinks this is a good system. It's unsustainable. The sooner people get their heads around getting health insurance out of the picture, the better we are.

You think the GOP efforts regarding health care over the last 20 years have done anything? Do tell. How about just in the last 2 years? Big majorities in congress and a republican POTUS. Surely they could get something passed? Probably busy working on solutions for the wall....

As it should be. I'm glad that we agree on this

How about consumers paying for their own health care

Agreed

Agreed. Most of them were just grandstanding to get elected. Only the POTUS made any real impact of kicking the legs out from under the ACA

I think the plan was to tax money that Mexicans in America were sending back home to their families. If any legislation was drafted to that effect, I haven’t heard about it. Not the same as Mexico paying for the wall, though, for sure.

The only ones I have seen that were stupid enough to think Mexico was going to write a check to the US to pay for the wall are the anti Trumpers at all cost folks.

Can I get an updated list of campaign promises that weren’t complete bullshit then?

Just for reference lol

You think Mexicans in America don’t pay taxes?

I don’t know the exact numbers. Nobody does, but my experience tells me many do not.

While this is true, the goods and services they buy add to the economy. I do want all to be paying income taxes, and it’s a largely unenforced issue in this country (a mismatched SSN by an employer is only $50 fine per each).

Immigrants are flat-out vital to our economy, tho.

If we incentivized more immigrants to pay taxes with potential future citizenship, it would be a major boost to this country’s economic growth.

Fify

I'm still hung up on the basic facts. He hasn't built a wall.

Mexico hasn't paid for the wall.

He just had majorities in both houses and didn't get the funding. Now the dems are gonna fund it? 4d chess?

Let's do a hypothetical spin-off to this. What if the Dems do give him money to build a portion of it, but its just a big beautiful fence and not a BBW.

Is it a win for either team? Is it a loss for either team?

Win for a fencing company, unless Biff is entrusted with paying their invoices.

Trump's supporters take him seriously, but not literally.
Trump's opposition takes him literally, but not seriously.

"Take him seriously, but not literally."

This is a pretty amazing defense of old fashioned lying. Don't "literally" take what he says as accurate. Western values and logic doesn't really jibe with that. Do we need so get some shrooms to really get what he's saying?

The person you voted for in the last election. Do you think there are any records of them lying?

Probably. I haven't met someone that never lied.

I've also never met someone that has a pathological compulsion to lie every time they speak. There is not even remote similarity between Biff and Obama. Not on any level.

Just so that I know your cutoff point, how many lies by your choice for president are okay?

This is not a logical dismissal of Trump’s lying...at all. You can’t use Hillary whataboutism to defend and downplay Trump’s aversion to truth and facts.

P.S. You ain’t alone here by a long shot

Over what period of time? And about what? Are you really trying to equate the honesty of Trump with Obama?

Hell he doesn't even try to make it believable to anyone without their nose up his ass. Apparently there's some dynamic where we are not supposed to believe what he says. I'm still trying to figure this out.

It just seems that you are good with the lying up to some percentage and that Mr. Obama is within that range of acceptance and that Mr. Trump's lying percentage is over that line.

Well, I mean, all lies aren't the same and frequency of lies isn't either. This is a nuance that has to be explained? One lie vs. 100,000?

Yeah, I like Obama in some part because the guy was pretty honest I think he tried to do the most good for the most people and shoot straight. Biff is like... the extreme pathological liar. if you wanna get me on a slippery slope, use someone like William Jefferson Clinton.

This is a lie.

Tried to avoid sourcing you might dismiss and settled on NBC News who says the cost of illegal immigration to the US taxpayer is about 54 billion per year. The biggest cost according to the story is public education.

Having said that, I imagine the cost is higher. There are a lot of factors regarding the cost of public services that aren't being paid into at the same rate as legal immigrants and natural citizens do. And those who do pay in are often doing so via identity theft, fake SS cards etc. So it's nearly impossible to get a real number.

It's ironic that you bring up Obama from this positive perspective. I'm going to start a thread from a different, defensible, perspective probably this weekend. It's about the only "fundamental change" from Obama that actually took.

And we are all way, way worse off for it.
