In light of today’s excellent GDP figure, which we were repeatedly told would “never” happen — it’s time for a poll.

This is not accurate. Noone stated that Trump (or any president) couldn't achieve 3% or even 4% growth in a quarter. It was stated that the US economy could never grow at an annual 3% rate again. Trump has not yet achieved this, however, this number gives him a strong opportunity to do so.

There were a number of articles at the time on CNBC (one of the sites I follow religiously). I just googled and here's several:

http://www.latimes.com/business/hiltzik/la-fi-3percent-20170519-story.html
https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-...onomists-are-skeptical-us-can-grow-3-percent/
https://www.nbcnews.com/business/ec...realistic-economic-growth-say-experts-n763666

This was a common theme during the budget review because his 3% growth projected in his budget was so unobtainable. So there are a number of articles across the media spectrum espousing the inability of the US economy sustaining 3%. Surprised you don't remember these.

When 3 percent growth over the course of the entire year happens, let me know

All of those concede that GDP growth can exceed 3% just not for a sustained period like the 90s. I disagree with them, but they haven't been proven wrong yet.

Agreed. My post explicitly states that.
