It definitely didn't suck, but there's so much to the show that the mental energy required to stay with it is almost to much to make it enjoyable.Episode 1 pretty much sucked. Hope it gets better.
Liked. Wood.Episode 1 pretty much sucked. Hope it gets better.
I enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next one.
I can’t remember...did Bernard”s young female assistant die, or just get snatched? Stubbs reappeared, so I figured she might also.
I thought it was good and that it set up some pretty interesting story lines.
I think Bernard's assistant is going to make a return. They didn't actually show her die on camera last season and I remember thinking at the time that it was purposeful.
So the multi-timeline story telling continues. It is just that Benard is in two story lines that are 10 days apart? Any others?
Do you think the man in the black hat is just a straight continuation from last season?
I do think man in black is a straight continuation. Not sure about Bernard. Maybe there are two Bernards.
Episode 2 may have been worse than Episode 1. Just really bad storytelling.
I mean, the company guys use the one battle tactic that gives the hosts shooting 19th century firearms a chance to beat them? Come on man.
That whole scene was just stupid. Why sacrifice the others and then make sure they are all dead? Delores is just off the rails with no real direction.
After episode 2 I was about to throw in the towel but I think 3 and 4 have been much better.
Further rant on Delores.
So, she finally becomes sentient. She's appalled that the guests would use the park hosts for their own means of entertainment. So what's the first thing she does? Starts using the park's hosts as cannon fodder - just like the human guests she was disgusted by. She keeps saying that some don't deserve to make it. Why? Because their makers programmed in a way she doesn't like? That's just stupid.
Her entire story line is just horrible writing.
Ok I'm caught up.
I don't think Dolores and Maeve have the same view of themselves. Maeve sees the other robots as her equal, Dolores sees them as something less, just to be used. She seems to have no real interest in waking them up, whereas Maeve has. I'm still not convinced either one is operating 100% on their own decisions.
So they were trying to smuggle out Delos' consciousness. It was in Abernathy clear back when he blinked out looking at the picture of Delos's daughter. So did Bernard print out Ford's consciousness?
Wtf are the Indians? Not hosts, they were more like holograms.
The security team are a bunch of dumbasses. Their idiotic attempt to take over the fort as the only issue I've really had so far this season.

The host come in all shapes and sizes needed to complete the story. Some of them such as Delores are obviously given more advance narratives to play a greater role. Some are just bartenders, clerks etc. who are basically background characters. In order to have the old west narrative you need some kind of danger to play out the Cowboy and Indian fantasy that has to be a huge part of the guest desires. The Indians probably aren't programed to do much more then raid and be killed by the guest. Doubt many of them have been given much of a background narrative.
Good catch on Delos, its possible Ford download his own consciousness before starting the final act. I also wonder if Bernard may be more then just a recreation of Arnold. I wonder if Bernard was the prototype for the conscience hosts. Could Arnold have left his consciousness behind to be downloaded into Bernard with or without Fords knowledge? Could William have done it?
My point on the Indians was that they simply disappeared after holding the knife to the security guys neck. I'll have to go back and look but have any of them actually hurt any of the guest?
I don't know who the second consciousness belongs to. My guess would be Ford or Arnold as you say. I've been wondering, like you, for a while now if Bernard doesn't have some of Arnold's Consciousness built into him.
I just went back and watched a couple clips from episode 1 and 2 from season 1, Ford's interviewing of Abernathy is pretty interesting in retrospect.
I don't think the Indians are holograms. They are just sneaky ninjas when they want to be. That was the only time we saw them seem to disappear into thin air, and I think it was meant to show that they, similar to historical narrative of Native Americans, can move silently and sneakily when they want to.
