Syria used the runways, the hangers and other facilities are mostly trashed and it is my understanding they destroyed the chemicals being stored there. The chemicals have to be mixed before they are used that is why it was safe to bomb them without endangering civilians.
I doubt they destroyed every plane or they may of brought some over from another another airfield.
Besides trashing a military air base the message was sent, attack civilians and you'll get punched in the nose. How much you want to bet they don't use chemical weapons again. If they do it will be because Assad is at the end of his rope.
