8. Oklahoma State
Starters: Isaac Likekele, Thomas Dziagwa, Lindy Waters, Cameron McGriff, Yor Anei
Bench: Curtis Jones, Marcus Watson (Fr.), Avery Anderson III (Fr.), Chris Harris Jr. (Fr.), Kalib Boone (Fr.), Keylan Boone (Fr.)
This could be the team I’m the most wrong on. There was a lot to like about how the Cowboys finished the year — going 3-3 over their final six regular-season games — and the way they battled for Mike Boynton considering he was down to a six-man rotation.
A five-man recruiting class means Boyton has depth now. He also returns his top six. What’s to like about the Cowboys is their shooting and the defensive potential when those starters don’t have to log so many minutes. OSU shot a respectable 37.2 percent from 3, a number that probably would have been higher with fresher legs, and is there a better shooting duo in college basketball than Thomas Dziagwa and Lindy Waters?
I started with the Cowboys at the bottom of these rankings and kept talking myself into moving them up. I still might not be giving the Pokes enough respect in this spot.
