Might have been a "C" had he not lost his veto pen his first 6 years in office.

He enacted the Patriot Act which imo was the single most freedom revoking policy ever enacted by the US government (at least in my lifetime). As such he gets an F. I actually don't hold him responsible for the recession. Not sure why its the president's fault that the market formed a bubble then popped.

C....not a fan, but he made some hard decisions, against conventional wisdom and without much support. He didn't grovel at our allies feet and run around apologizing for America being exceptional. He also made some inexplicable decisions and or supported things that still befuddle me (patriot act and abdication of veto powers as mentioned above are solid points, I would add not lending reform as one which he tried to do but then dropped). Without 9/11 he probably would have been a really bad president. Conversely, the ex-rodent in chief with 9/11 would have been an unmitigated disaster.

I put C because of the circumstances he was put in; still made some bad choices.

This is my major complaint. Iraq at the time with the intelligence available, was understandable.
