Anyone catch it yet? Thoughts?

I'm all in. I don't know much about the early punk scene (or really any punk scene) so I'm pretty fascinated.

One way too early criticism, I could probably go without the murder subplot. I think there is enough fascinating stuff you don't need a murder hanging over everything. Plus I could watch a lot more of coked-up Andrew Dice Clay with long hair.

I heard Andrew Dice Clay kept ad libbing a thing about a twin brother in the scene where they killed him hoping they would bring him back. After a dozen takes, Scorsese said how about one without that, naturally that was the take used.

It was a 2 hour long episode and it kept my attention. I thought it was good. I like Bobby Cannavale and the Ray Romano character looks pretty funny.

The murder did seem out of place and unnecessary. We'll see where it goes.

You should read up. Good summary of LA punk from the mid-70s to mid-80s here. It may not be as meaningful if you don't know at least some of the music, however. Maybe you can borrow my albums and 45s :)

@ casdas. Based on your photo collection I can only imagine what your albums collection must be.

Overall after two episodes very lukewarm about the whole thing. Main problem seems to be its way too over the top and way to nostalgic about 70's New York. Too many inside references to the music industry. We'll see where the plot goes. I assuming the murder is going to haunt Bobby all season as his life spins more and more out of control. I stuck with Carnival and John from Cincinatti for most of the first seasons so I give HBO a wide berth on new shows. Sometimes they turn out to be genius. Sometimes not so much.

It is getting a second season.

I think I'm just a sucker for a coked-up Bobby Cannavale. I could watch that all day. So far I don't think it is a genius show but a solid B for me. I will say, IMO, Terrence Winter's last show Boardwalk Empire started out pretty hit or miss but I thought by the end got pretty great.

Andrew dice Clay was the best, wish he would have stayed around longer but with him as coked out as he was it doesn't shock me. I love stuff about the music scene only because I know so little about it and marvel at folks that can listen and tell the difference.

Dice already has his own show coming up on Showtime or HBO. I forget which.

That's good to hear. I told my wife I thought he should win something the first time I watched it. I'm ready for them to get into the music side of things.

Also, it is probably common knowledge but the singer of the punk bad is Mick Jagger's son.

I thought the 2nd episode was strong. I watched it on my flight yesterday. When he karated Ray Romano, I lost it. The woman sitting next to me was looking at me like I was crazy

Ok, only one episode left, did anyone else stick it out? I'm really hoping for a decent payoff because everything else has been one nut punch after another it seems.

I'm still watching but I'm not exactly gripped by it. I'm two episodes behind and didn't even finish last week's after watching the 1st half of it. Turned it off and rolled over and went to sleep. I can only take it in 30 min increments it seems. I don't know if I'll stick with it second season. It's not terrible but I sure as hell don't look forward to it so what's the point?

I'm just looking forward to something going well for someone. Right now it's just one giant screw up after another one. Eventually the Nasty Bits have to be successful right?

Good show. I've enjoyed it. Jamie Vine reminds me of a girl I knew in the 70s.

Cancelled.

It needed to be put out of its misery. The last 20 minutes of the final episode were awful.

"Hey, let's celebrate by tearing our office to shreds and spray painting everything!"

I was actually looking forward to the show being reworked. I thought there was a real good show somewhere in there. I thought it could have a Leftovers-style resurgence.

That being said it had to be a show that was expensive as hell so I understand why they axed it.

Sucks. I really like the show. Bobby Cannavale was great in it.
