Also, 1994 is considered by many old school hip hop fans (people who have truly loved it for decades), to be the best year ever for hip hop.

People who love 1994 hip hop, generally don’t like much commercial rap after the year 2000.
There really is a huge distinction. In 1994, Wu Tang Clan were on top of their game — the individual members had classic solo albums — it was a truly distinct 1994 sound and vibe.

I’m a Wu Tang fan, but they were fairly singular during the 90s.
Tupac, Death Row, Bad Boy, Rockafella will never compare to the likes of the Furious Five, Afrika Bambatta, Public Enemy, Eric B and Rakim, Boogie Down Productions, Slick Rick, Run DMC, Kurtis Blow, Tribe Called Quest.
