USS Johnston, Sunk in Battle of Leyte Gulf and Commanded by Oklahoman, finally located.

Legendary charge. Offhand I can’t think of a braver, more infamous action by a US destroyer in the entire war than that charge led by Johnston off Samar. They had to feel they were charging to certain death (for many they did). But saved the lives of hundreds more, possibly thousands.

To be fair, many incredibly brave crews went to their deaths on both sides between August-November 1942 off Guadalcanal.

Hard to believe that thier has been no peer to peer naval battle since 1944.

The coming battle over the South China Sea and Taiwan will be a doozy. Sink a carrier these days and you have 6 thousand casualties. People are going to be shocked when we lose more men in a week than we lost in Vietnam and for a pledge to defend that maybe 10% of the American voter knows about.

Democracy is a clown show.

American voters are largely lazy, ignorant people. At least that’s the case in 2021.
