This article/opinion explains why governments should never be trusted. No matter what you call it: fascism, socialism, communism, social democracy or anything else government is designed for some people to exert authority, while never having to accept blame for mistakes, even if they cost an untold number of innocent lives. How some reasonably intelligent people place all their faith in authoritarianism is unfathomable to me.
