I was watching as a bunch of standup comedians said they refuse to work colleges any more. Too full of perpetually outraged social justice warriors. Too full of skitterish and easily triggered snowflakes. Too full of leftist Nazis that demand to control their language.

It got me to thinking, remembering my younger days when comedians like Lenny Bruce were regularly hauled off to jail for using foul language in private clubs full of audiences that were there to hear their sets.

So the question is: were the people (one must assume they were in the right wing of the political spectrum) that insisted LB be jailed and cheered when he was jailed for using language they found offensive, were those people in the 50’s and early 60’s the social justice warriors, the snowflakes, the intolerant language Nazis of their day?

It is definitely eye opening, isn't it? What still hasn't been reconciled on this board is how leftists can be so openly intolerant of Christians while screeching at me to be tolerant of the most intolerant and oppressive religion in the world. They'll mock Christians about God and Jesus but won't dare utter a negative word about Allah or Mohammed.

Other oppressive regimes in history have eschewed religion in favor of government, party, and ideology worship. It's hard to have complete control if someone is putting something besides government, party, and ideology at the top of the list.

There's truth in that observation.

"Can We Take a Joke?" is a pretty good documentary that covers the general subject of your post. I believe it is still viewable for "free" on Amazon Prime.
