I don't follow Alex Jones, but what terms of service did he violate? I keep hearing "hate speech". Did he say the "N" word? Did he incite violence? Just curious what the 'line' is for an individual and if its applied evenly to all.

Applied evenly? No chance. Applied to high visibility types on s somewhat more consistent basis.

Your favorite search engine would get you to Terms of Service in a single click for all the InfoWars banning platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Apple, Vimeo, YouTube, etc).

The dude posts blatant false material, arguably incites violence, and certainly crosses the hate speech line.

Is The Onion banned as well? They post fake news every day.

This isn’t okay.

FB, Twitter, YouTube, etc. are now essentially in control of what we see and hear.

Their collective ability to silence opinion for any reason, should scare everyone on all sides.

I don’t care if someone spews hate speech all day so long as they aren’t threatening anyone because terms like hate speech or offensive speech can be broadly interpreted and it’s a dangerously slippery slope.

I'm curious the process that rules Jones crossed the line but someone like Melanie Griffith (beheaded Trump image) didn't.

FB, Twitter, YouTube, etc. are the only places you get opinions from?

Maybe expand your horizons.

From where do you believe you derive the right to impose on Facebook the choice of Terms of Service?

I dig me some Melanie Griffith. I suppose you meant Kathy though....

You suppose that Kathy Griffith was not warned over that event? Not sure how one would know such a thing except as the party warned is willing to share it.... Banning on all the aforementioned platforms only comes after multiple warnings and a pattern of continued misuse of the platform.

I don't.

I just think it's funny that Alex Jones is putting more hate in the world than the nightly news.

You can find shit all day long on YouTube that's horrific, but the vitamin salesman has got to go.

Why start there?

Is Alex Jones slipping into cartoons and improperly influencing our kids?

Suspending Infowars, which purports itself as a news site, makes some sense. Suspending an individual should have been followed with 100,000 bannings, unless you literally believe that Alex Jones is the only person who has posted something inappropriate via that platform.

Just my opinion, but what do I know...I don't do Facebook or Twitter.

Said individual peddled debunked conspiracy theories, calling kids crisis actors and school shooting hoax. He called the OKC and 9/11 bombings government jobs. And more.

Do conservatives have any interest in seeking truth, or is this just gonna continue to be a 24/7 circle jerk of lies and BS?

Who cares what he says as an individual. Did they ban every Area 51 conspiracy theorist? How about the 9/11 conspiracy theorists? George Bush should be banned. He once promoted WMDs, and we all know where that got us. Banning a site that falsely purports itself to be news is one thing. Banning an individual because you don't like his absurd theories, is something else to me entirely.

You seem to fail to realize that said absurd theories spouted, as an “individual”, were done on camera and broadcast on the site. Hence, there isn't a logical separation between the 2...period.

Please, "why start here", you've been railing about how your faves have been mistreated on the various platforms for years.... Chapter 78, verse 19 - Alf gets his feelings hurt by big tech once again.

Hope it went well today.

I bitch about tech a lot, don't remember talking about specific people.

Without social media Trump never becomes president.

That's the most horrible thing to happen literally ever.

Tell me how tech isn't evil.

You win. All good.

Satire is cool, but you knew that already.

These types of threads are awesome. They expose the insincere, the lazy, and the nut jobs.

I am not an Alex Jones fan AT ALL, but it's pretty well damn known that he's a conspiracy theorist nut job. Is You Tube and all the other tech giants going to start taking down all conspiracy videos/accounts? Are they the gatekeepers of truth and honor now?

He ran his mouth about pizzagaye.

A man went to the pizza place and fired shots.

His conspiracy speech is dangerous.

UFO and bigfoot talk, not so much.

You missed my question. I think he's a quack. But selectively targeting a quack is concerning to me. How is his conspiracy that the government was behind the OKC bombing any different than those who claim we never landed on the moon or that the holocaust didn't happen. We treat their opinions as moronic too, but I don't see facebook and twitter rushing to ban the thousands who believe or espouse these conspiracies. Heck, they didn't ban the NBA player who espoused that the world is flat. And I'm pretty confident that science has debunked that.
