I'd say Tulsa played about as well as they are capable of playing and they got alot of help from the officials (see us not even getting into the bonus until there was 1 second left in the 2nd half) and we were able to get the win without our best 2 players. It was one of those games that felt like we were up by 15 but we were actually in a dog fight.
Great game by all of the freshmen. They are nowhere close to perfect and are very frustrating at times, but they are growing up quickly.
Averette keeps getting better and better. I said it early that he is already better than Tyree Griffin. Can we go ahead and put that debate to bed? He carried us today. He had 5 turnovers which you would like to be lower but other than that he played a great game.
Lindy's game winner was so clutch. What a big time play in crunch time. The little chicken wing push off was perfect. If he extends his arm he gets an offensive foul called. Then he buried the shot and stared down the defender. That type of attitude, the attitude that McGriff showed in Maui, etc. is something we have been missing. We need to keep getting more attitude and more physical. I love it.
N'Guessan is continuing to improve. He still makes some bad plays but the good outweigh the bad most of the time. He at least gives us a big presence in the middle. Once he has an offseason or two to put on some weight he will be an absolute animal.
When Averette wasn't carrying us it was Dziagwa. His 3s should have put the game away for us but we gave up cheap 3s to them on the other end. He had a good game. He and Lindy still struggle on defense due to a lack of lateral quickness but they work their buts off.
McGriff had what felt like a quiet game but was around the ball alot. Defending, rebounding, challenging shots, etc. He hit a big 3 as well. 5 pts, 6 rebs, 1 ast, 2 stls, and 1 blk. What a freaking stat line for a guy that seemed like he played a quiet game.
Solomon played his best game in a cowboy uniform. 7 pts and 7 rebs. If he starts getting close to that on regular basis we will be in good shape. It is amazing how much he has developed just in the first ~8 months of playing under a good coach.
Carroll continues to dominate with 13 pts and 8 rebs even though he sat out a few minutes at the end with cramps. He is a turning into a really good player. Reminds me a little of Jeremy Lamb while he was at UCONN (not while he was with the Thunder).
