Trump: “Russia, if you’re listening, you will be rewarded mightily”

The report shows that Russians working at IRA divided Americans into key interest groups in order to target messaging, the Post reported.

The Russians focused on turning out conservatives to vote with messaging about gun rights and immigration, according to the Post, and spread misinformation to left-leaning African-American voters about how to vote to and tried to undermine their faith in elections. Many other groups, including Latinos, Muslims, Christians, gay men and women, liberals, Southerners and veterans, were also targeted by thousands of social media accounts controlled by Russians, the Post reported.

"What is clear is that all of the messaging clearly sought to benefit the Republican Party -- and specifically Donald Trump," the draft of the report obtained by the Post reads. "Trump is mentioned most in campaigns targeting conservatives and right-wing voters, where the messaging encouraged these groups to support his campaign."

Whether the Russian government was working to get DJT elected I don't know. (By the way neither do you.) Let me ask you this: does it make sense that DJT would publicly ask the Russian government to interfere in the election and help put him over the top if he was privately/clandestinely/illegally working toward that goal?

1. Based on the point you just made, absolutely. In fact, it would be expected, even more so when they're as aggressive as they were and the intel community was already screaming about it.

2. He asked. They complied.

3. He'll say anything at any time, with zero forethought. Finding logic in his public statements is an adventure.

1. Muller does.
2. Trump is Low IQ. Little he does “makes sense” except to his ever dwindling base.

The Trump Tower Meeting happened before this. They were already backchanneling with Russia. Trump was going to give Putin a $50 million penthouse. Trump has been financially connected to Russia for a long time.

Collusion is a duh by now

1) I guess we'll just have to disagree on this point. It makes no sense to me that someone involved in a traitorous activity would so blatantly make a statement that would invite investigation.

2) There is no doubt you are more interested/invested in this than I. I tend to be interested in theoretical/philosophical topics over the day-to-day criminal activities of politicians. I thought he made his remark after Hillary's crimes had already been made public. I admit I could be mistaken on this account.

3) You nailed him on that one.

1) Mueller does what? I'm not sure what this means.

2) DJT may not be the brightest bulb in the socket, but he is more intelligent than you want to admit. Over and above his raw intelligence is his cleverness, his calculatedness. In that regard he is brilliant. It's for that reason I do not accept the premise that he would publically ask for Russian help if he was already privately colluding with them.

Again, you are certainly more knowledgeable on the many rumors that have been presented as facts. That Trump has been privately financially connected to Russian interests, including people associated with Putin, is not evidence of collusion. What Russian financier is not connected to Putin? The man runs the country with an iron fist. How could anyone become a Russian financier without Putin's good graces? That alone does not prove collusion. Saying that "collusion is a duh by now" is jumping the gun. I understand how badly you want it to be true. But wanting it to be true and knowing it to be true are different animals.

Please allow me to say for the umpteenth time, collusion is not going to bring down Trump. It would be too dangerous for the Democrats. The Republicans would respond with a viciousness we have never seen before. If Trump is toast you can bet your house Hillary would follow suit. If you want to bring Trump down you will have to use legitimate reasons, not unprovable ones that threaten the Democrats. And the ironic fact is there are countless legitimate reasons. All the scandals thrown at Trump are obviously fodder for the pawns in the game to argue over. Keep you fired up with hatred until election time. It's astounding to me that you guys can't see that you are being played by your own team. And before you respond with "the Republicans are doing the same thing" let me stop you there. I AGREE the Republicans are doing the same thing. Each side needs to learn to clean their own house. The "you first" attitude from the pawns of both teams needs to be put to rest.

Eh. I am on record that Trump will be taken out by health care, not Mueller. I've seen nothing that changes that.

The republicans control the senate, and they won't convict him regardless of what he does. Apparently the DOJ won't charge him with anything. He'll be up for election in 2020.

I think the point so many libs are gleefully making day in and day out is how full of shit the conservatives have been for so long, and they've now gotten exactly what they wanted -- total control. All of their basic messaging -- out the window, they never believed it. Responsible fiscal policy? Values that emphasize the family? Clean up government? How could they more demonstrably hypocritical?

And get ready for the economic consequences of Biff's governance. There's gonna be a nasty economic downturn - like the last two republican presidents had -- and he'll have nobody to blame.

There is so much about this with which I agree! The Republicans have never believed a word of their rhetoric. They are weasels, liars and deserve absolutely no respect. And I mean every single one of them, from Donald Trump to the lowliest congressional representative. On that front we are comrades in arms!

Now, the hard part. The Democrats once had total control and they, like the Republicans, punted at every turn. They proved to be weasels, liars and deserve absolutely no respect. And I mean every single one of them from both Clintons and Obama all the way down to the lowliest representative.

I agree completely with your analysis of Republicans. I further maintain that your analysis fits the Democrats to a T. Are you objective enough to agree?
