It was reported on another OK State forum that Taylor Lamont would not wrestle tonight due to injury. I could not ascertain if this is true. I do know he shown as unavailable on 12/3 due to injury but have not seen anything since. If he is out tonight it will probably be the only chance for Utah Valley to score as Romero is out for the season. I was looking forward to seein how Mastro fared against Lamont as Flo has him ranked 5th and Mastro 7th. Lamont has a history of injuries (knee) but placed 5th in the NCAA, I hope he can wrestle.

FWIW, Lamont is not listed in their match notes.

Also, they have a link to a youtube stream. Don't know if it will work or not...

Potential matchups for tonight
125 Mastro vs. Yusief Lillie (if not Lamont)
133 Fix vs. Haiden Drury
141 Young vs. Jas. Emmer
149 Gfeller vs. Alex Emmer
157 Sheets vs. Garoutte
165 Witlake vs. Brigg Hoopes?
174 Plott vs Fouret
184 Geer vs. Jacob Armstrong
197 Ferrari vs. Hunter Cruz
285 Surber vs. Jayden Woodruff

Announcers has butchered just about everyone of our guys names.

and who is the one announcer that keeps calling us Oklahoma even though the other guy says Oklahoma State every time? Why doesn't the second guy correct the first?

2-0 Decision Hone

Reversal with about 30 seconds left after a 2nd period rideout

9-0 oSu

These announcers are not good. I’m pretty sure they keep calling us Oklahoma hoping that we’ll wrestle like the Sooners. Looks like John worked them out before the match.

Gfeller with the freight train high crotch. He definitely keeps it interesting.

G with the fall. He smelled blood in the water against Emmer. Definitely not the same G we’ve seen the past couple of seasons. The focus is back and the results are showing.

I wonder how they would respond to being referred to as Utah?

Wyatt Sheets beats the tar out of a guy so bad that the referee wouldn’t even stop the match when he had blood smeared down his arm. Announcers looking for stalling calls as they have their heads buried in the mat. This dual is looking like a will we give up a TD tonight type of dual…let’s hope not.

Halftime. So far 125 and 133 looked sluggish. 141 was a little rusty with Hone. 149 and 157 have learned that beating the tar out of your opponent is the best way to stay on John’s good side. After the first few matches I was wondering if John might take them straight to the practice room once this wrapped up.

Young would have done better at 141 but I see why John had Hone wrestle in his home state as a Senior. Props for John to do that for him.

Surber gives up a reversal with under a minute remaining for UVU to secure their only offensive points of the dual.

Guys definitely looked tired tonight, but they gutted it out. It was a successful road trip and I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season.

Takedowns OKState 24 UVU 1 That was an escape and takedown at the end for Woodruff. He got us off guard. Woodruff had 4 escapes and 1 takedown and score ended 8-6. How can we complain at the end of a long road trip. We looked tired and still did not give up but one offensive move.
Thanks Oberebo. I glanced away and then caught the end when the announcers said reversal. I thought there was a stall call at the end, so that’s how my math added us for the reversal and not the escape then TD.
All in all a good showing for the Pokes.

The ref didn’t award the escape. Gave Woodruff a point for Surber stalling after the takedown.

Definitely a sluggish match by most of the team. G, Sheets, and Geer showed some fire and dominated. It had to be frustrating for Utah Valley to initiate attacks only to get taken down. Our defense and balance on our feet was outstanding.

They have the dual up on YouTube. It was 6-3, Surber got a TD to make it 8-3, Surber was warned for stalling as he pulled him out of bounds, UVU stood up and turned right back into Surber. Then the score was 8-5. Surber called for stalling making it 8-6. Trackwrestling says the final score was 8-7. OSU Twitter says the final score was 8-6. Okstate.com says the final was 8-7. It looks like the escape point was given and the the TD was awarded.

Great info. 8-7 should be the correct score.

Yes, I thought almost all of our wrestlers wrestled in 2nd or 3rd gear instead of 4th or 5th gear. This was consistent and therefore during those 4 days on the road almost everyone must have been tired. I also hope Surber learned from the end of that match that you can not let down your guard in a match ( he embarrassingly let down his guard but didn't pay much of a price).
