Thought Police Come After Ellen DeGeneres

Which is has always been the criterion used to determine who should have free speech.

I thought you were smart? Who here is calling for the prosecution by the government? Free speech has nothing to do with anything in this thread. Thought police are not actually police. Glad I could clear that up for you before you made a fool out of yourself.

You are confusing free speech with the first amendment.

As I said a few months ago, the SJW's are the new victorians, and anything that can be twisted into some vague semblance of racist/sexist/homophobic jokes are the new bare ankles.

It'll burn itself out. It's unsustainable - especially when they start attacking popular progressive icons like a beloved lesbian talk show host for being racist. Dumb, and she should NOT have taken the complaints seriously. Big mistake to engage them as serious people.

When I saw it and the only thing I thought of was it being a compliment.

I already regret this but please parse this out.
Free speech is the principle that the free exchange of ideas is good and that attempts to censor or restrain it are bad.
The First Amendment is a prohibition of the government abridging free speech.

If JeffJ were to start censoring posts and banning posters for expressing controversial rules (as is his right) the First Amendment would have nothing to say about it, but it wouldn't be upholding the principle of free speech.

When private colleges ban speakers for being controversial, the First Amendment isn't being violated, but the principle of free speech isn't being upheld.

Usually the complaints about the PC though police and the SJWs are that they are bad for free speech. In cases where they enlist an authority such as a college or the owner of a medium (like JeffJ) to stop the offense, this is a reasonable argument. In the case of Ellen when people are expressing their distaste for what she posted, they aren't limiting speech any more than the people who are expressing their distaste for their PC distaste are limiting their's. This is good.

Apparently, your beef with the thought police are that they are stupid not that they are limiting free speech through policing thought, which is a valid beef.

The principal of free speech is just a fairy tale with parameters being a moving target by the minute. If Donald trump had put himself on the back of a usain bolt, then a lot of her fans who are defending her would be passed out in local coffee shops all over the country. If levar burton had done the exact same thing it wouldn't be news.

The principal of free speech is just an active endless argument. See your buddy Clinton for a good example. One day someone is a pussy bitch cock breath and the next day if he is mentioned in a thread he hasn't posted in then someone needs to be eyeballed by @jeff j immediately.

When biased human moderators and biased algorithms are running the public sphere the principal of free speech is a useless acknowledgement. To be partisan this is where liberals fall out of bed. They want to shut down Fox News or milo or Ben Shapiro. They don't want them to talk at all or be heard by anyone. If we call that out as absolutely ridiculous all the sudden we are on the same plane?

If it's complaining vs complaining then yes it's all the same thing.
