“The short-term, dopamine-driven feedback loops we’ve created are destroying how society works,” he said, referring to online interactions driven by “hearts, likes, thumbs-up.” “No civil discourse, no cooperation; misinformation, mistruth. And it’s not an American problem — this is not about Russians ads. This is a global problem.”
Love the quote and think he is spot on. I use FB now to wish friends a Happy Birthday and post things about missing dogs/cats in the area and try to help other rescues out. Sometimes post neat pics or stories. Don't comment or post about politics as (and like he said) you can never know what is true and what isn't. To many people see something that feeds their agenda driven mind and they run with it. They are too lazy to ascertain facts or do any research themselves (part of which lays on the doorstep of the way the educational system has slaved people to being dumbed down and passed on instead of being challenged to be critical thinkers).
Never heard about the Whatsap rumor that got 7 people hung, in India. Have to look into that though, seems strange, unless it was Hindu's hanging Muslims (or clan against clan etc) and they already had a beef, the hoax just provided the context to take action.
