Apparently the mayor and newspaper think it is newsworthy. Are you good with what the police chief said?

But what the police chief did say is his troopers would not ask. I’m good with that, but I expect some on this board are not. If I’m wrong about that it won’t be the first thing I’ve been wrong about!
Illegal immigrants have no rights as citizens.
Asking if you are here legally should be as common as asking if you have guns or drugs.
It’s funny how dan is an expert on all of the lefts flaws and tricks on socialism but this one about using immigrants and illegal immigrants interchangeably is about as transparent as your uncle taking your nose.

I saw this report, it was news to me and after reading what many on this board have said about immigrants I wondered if they had seen what the mayor & police chief of OKC had gone public with. Was looking for a discussion, not a slug fest. You’ve got me confused with someone else.
You missed it. "Immigrants" (the lawful kind) and "illegal immigrants" are two different things. But the left has worked hard to homogenize the two. That appears to be the case with you, but I for one am not taking the bait.
Certainly. They can fight for those rights in their own country as we did here.
We also can't legally kill them, traffic them, or hire them as little more than slaves with sub-standard non-taxed wages.

I would ask you to show where in this thread I have attempted to homogenize the two. I was asking what is your reaction to the police chief’s remark. He’s the one that said it, not me. I think you are ascribing attitudes to me that I have not presented. I’m NOT trying to start a fight! I began this thread by saying “discuss.” I wondered if anybody else had seen the news article and was curious what people thought. You can get into a pissing match with countless other people on this board. I rarely tend to engage in such pettiness.

Thank you for your calm and reasonable reply. No, I don’t think I missed on anything. Holt clearly said he was responding to Trump’s tweets aimed at the four congresswomen. Then the police chief said his patrolmen want to be called to disturbances and they will not ask about citizenship. Frankly that surprised me a little bit since it was coming from Oklahoma. Surprised a little bit, not a lot. Thinking I knew how some people on this board would react I asked them to discuss, and I even said I could be wrong. I obviously was wrong! Only Harry slightly implied he disagreed with the chief. Everybody else has made it clear they have no issues whatsoever with what both the mayor & police chief said.
To be honest his quote doesn’t say what the reporter assigns to him. Am I supposed to take their word for it that he is speaking about illegals?
Assuming he was, I would have to ask him a few questions. Does he cooperate with ice? Does he apprehend all people who cannot give a state issued license? I’m not going to assume anything from that small snippet.
The mayor sounds like he is well into leftist territory, but illegal immigration is a federal failure. What’s he supposed to do when they are playing wack a mole with illegals anyway? He has a duty to get English and a western style assimilation into everyone in his district. If being illegal is found out, I hope all protocols are followed. I wish they would just say that.

So if an illegal is getting beaten up they should feel comfortable calling the police to report it. Even if they are here illegally, they should be protected from others that would break our laws. I’m okay with that.
