This is very worrying, III

I said in another post that this is a major issue, I don't think China is going to back down, in fact their nest step would be to declare an Air Defense Identification zone (ADIZ) around the islands, that is something they will probably do in the next few months. What will the US do then? We have threatened blockade of the islands which would be looked at as hypocritical, considering our main concern about the islands in the first place is that they could interfere with the free shipping lanes so to keep that from happening, we would be doing that same thing. Its going to be interesting to see what happens.

As in did absolutely nothing to stop it except wave our arms.
The US did what had to be the first step, US and other countries went thorough the World court, which found against China, but they did not abide by the judgement ...........you have to go political before you start bombing, at least the US has to.

Well, the biggest thing to me is we've done nothing concrete as China has made incremental moves in the region for several years.

We should've, and need to, respond to every aggressive move there with counter moves that bring some pain to China as a result of their move(s). Economic sanctions are one step, perhaps targeted at companies directly involved with activities in the S China Sea. If they put missiles on one of these islands, make agreements with Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan to put commensurate numbers of missiles in those countries. Work to strengthen alliances with the Philippines in particular.

We haven't really worked to deter them. We've focused more on simply assuring the sea lanes stay open.
This is territorial dispute, there is a process that has to be followed. We have overflown the islands with Military aircraft and sent combat ships well within the "normal" 12 mile limit.

The new Philippine President is very Pro China , in fact he is now siding wiht them in this dispute, the most effective way of doing what you said, was to endorse the TPP, that would have given us a great amount of political and economic influence in the region, thats now dead.......we could rally our allies in the region, but I don't think Australia going to do anything to help us now, you cannot put Missiles in Taiwan, that would provoke a war

Well, I outlined what I would've done or would do and you completely ignored it.
I responded on a good portion of it............What I find funny, and this is not a dig at you, is people are griping because all president Obama did was declare sanctions and stuff like that, but that is the same thing that President Trump is doing, the sanctions just put on Iran are just a continuation of the sanctions President Obama put on them after their test last year, in fact President Trump used the same EO signed by President Obama to put on these sanctions ..........

I never mentioned Obama. I believe, although I am not certain, that China started this under Bush.

I can't remember, you are probably correct...........its a threat that needs to be dealt with...........we are now talking tough with Iran, and China, and we have N. Korea making threats, we have the capability to handle only one major conflict and still maintain security in the other areas we need too, this is going to get more interesting as it goes along

So, drifting from China to Iran because 0bama did nothing regarding China?

And when it comes to Iran, let's not forget that 0bama pushed a terrible nuclear agreement with secret side deals just to say he did something, followed by a cash ransom but not ransom payment to them. 0bama was a giant vaginal disaster in foreign policy. Nothing can rewrite that history.

I am not a supporter of President Obama, or the deal, but, what would you have done?, they were still proceeding with their Nuclear program despite the heavy sanctions, they would have had the capability for a bomb within a year, they may have been broke, but they would have still had a bomb.........we are far beyond the capability of being able to significantly damage their Nuclear facilities with anything short of an actual ground invasion

If you are talking about Iran what about Tactical Nukes? Been used in Syria by Saudia Arabia and Israel and in Yemen by Saudia Arabia, see links below.

Not saying SA is using them properly or Israel, but tact nukes can be used and some are very low radiation. Use the tact nukes to penetrate deep and destroy their facilities. Why have them if you are not going to save US lives in terms of ground troops or stopping the proliferation of nukes in to the hands of those that want to drop a big one on the US? Either we commit to stopping them or wait for them to turn NY or LA, etc.. in to a glow stick. I think Iran can be stopped without a full ground invasion if we want. If tact nukes are already being used in the ME than the cat is already out of the bag and they will also be used against our forces.

First off, those are not Nuclear weapons in those videos, they are probably FABs

second.....the way Iran constructed their facilities we cannot now take them out. They are to well protected....we could sure screw up their day, but not penetrate their main facilities
