I noticed something in the Texas game that I don't think I have seen from Ford before. Maybe I just don't remember.
With the game still in the balance, Hickey took an open 3 with 25+ seconds left in the shot clock. He missed badly. At the next stoppage, Ford pulled him from the game and talked to him on the bench. After he was reinserted, was when he started carrying us to victory. He didn't shoot any early 3's after that point.
I have seen Ford pull guys for bad shots before, but it is usually not one of the stars of the team. He gives guys like Smart, Brown, Forte, Page, etc a lot of latitude with bad early shots. Guys who are further down the bench don't get to stay in after bad shots.
Pulling Hickey reminded me of what we used to see from Eddie. Maybe Dickey had something to do with it. Obviously, it was a good thing, and it could be argued that it was instrumental in OSU going on a run and taking control of the game.
