The Rut

Anyone think the Rut will start early this year because of the cooler temps?

There is usually more movement due to cooler temps, but the actual breeding should come at the same time each year. That said, I know bucks are actively chasing does right now... at least to smell them... nose to butt stuff, but haven't seen any mounting. I'll tell you in a week, as I'm going to take ths coming week off and get out amongst em for the last archery hoorah! Danged rain on Mon. and Tues!

Saw does and bucks hot/heavy last week.

Hunting just east and South of Stillwater. Hunted on Friday and Saturday. Only saw small bucks and does. Bucks were pushing or chasing any doe they saw. No big boys up and moving. Going back out on Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

The last two days, things have really kicked in and I think the rut just began. It's crazy out there!

Saw 2 small bucks as I got into the stand this morning and that was it. Crazy cause last weekend things were nuts.
