I've been married for nearly 6 years. When I met her 8 years ago she was a lukewarm ou fan but that quickly changed as she went to OSU games with me and met more and more OSU people. The culture changed her as much as I did.
Eventually I proposed to her at Theta Pond during homecoming. And today she's as loyal and true orange and anti-ou as anyone you will meet. It's been awesome being able to share OSU's greatest era of Cowboy football with her.
However, one thing has been missing. I've always told her what old school GIA is like and how special OSU basketball is when that place is rock concert loud - but it's just been mythology until now. I've taken her to games but win or lose, it's always been a shadow of its former glory as an experience.
Fellas I believe that changes today. Easy to forget how long it's been and how many relatively new fans have never experienced what GIA is truly like. I believe it will be that way today and many more times this year. Underwood is doing a brilliant job of restoring our basketball culture and identity.
She surprised me with tickets for this game and for the first time I'm taking her to a game expecting it to be an atmosphere like it was when Eddie Sutton was in his prime.
Just soak it it. We are on the doorstep of a whole new era of high level basketball and the tradition is waking up.
