needs a kick in the ass. I don't like paying taxes any better than anyone else but people are hurting. the handicapped will not have any help, teachers deserve a raise and these baffoons sit around in OKC and refuse to work out agreements.
How did Lee Denney remain in office all of those years? If she was an MD (instead of DVM), I would walk back out the door. I guess dogs don’t care about their own health!needs a kick in the ass. I don't live in OK any more (been 10+ years now), but question for you. If they raised your taxes as you ask for, do you think for a minute that the extra money would actually be used to address any of the items you reference? Or would it go to flood insurance subsidies, new artwork for the capitol, and other pet projects that don't actually help the needy? I recommend you quit asking for more taxes, and tax yourself via charitable donations to agencies that do actually make a difference in the lives of those who need it.needs a kick in the ass. Hey now... She's a family friend. What did she do?How did Lee Denney remain in office all of those years? If she was an MD (instead of DVM), I would walk back out the door. I guess dogs don’t care about their own health!
Glad someone can claim her. At least she cheers for the Pokes on Saturday’s (I hope?).Hey now... She's a family friend. What did she do?
Lloyd Rader (and his helicopter and it’s pad between the old Lloyd E Rader Center and Hissom) is dead. Not sure I’ve met any rich teachers or social workers of late...or in my lifetime. Okie has been dead last in the categories you want to be first and first in the categories you want to be last for much of my life. These tax increases for beer, tobacco, and oil/gas are not addressing the real issues that are causing the budget issues. The off-the-top spending that was approved outside of the appropriations process that were AWFUL deals when they were passed are killing the legislatures ability to modify the state budget to accommodate shortfalls in economic slow downs because they come from dedicated funds that say they have to be used for a specific purpose. My biggest gripe about this bill that just passed is that it throws more money at education and DHS without addressing and fixing the inefficiencies and wasteful spending in those agencies. It seems like we are throwing good money after bad money just for the optics so politicians can say they "paid teachers more."
Neighbor to my in laws... She was very supportive to my father in law as wife's mother suffered through Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease. Then when Bob had his stroke she was there for him as we rushed east.Glad someone can claim her. At least she cheers for the Pokes on Saturday’s (I hope?).

She is good people with a good heart.
She's just not real good at the whole legislating thing.
Sorry about your mother in law. That’s a terrible disease.Neighbor to my in laws... She was very supportive to my father in law as wife's mother suffered through Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease. Then when Bob had his stroke she was there for him as we rushed east.
Vetmed grad from OSU.
She roots for both as I recall.
It’s like they are purposely trying to get OK to surpass WV and Mississippi as the dumbest state in the country,
The redder we get, the stupidur, poorer, and smaller gubmint we have. But we don't let gubmint steal our hard earned money with taxes, so we have that going for us. Businesses don't want to move here because we're such an ignorant, poor state. And red as we can be.
I hear that they're moving the marijuana legalization question up to a June election next year instead of the November general election ballot with everything else. That way, they won't have that issue driving non-conservatives to the polls for legislative and state wide offices.
Both extremes (far left and far right) are horrible. Where I live right now (Columbus metro area) is the very definition of moderate. Basically a 50/50 Repub/Democrat split and common sense reigns. My town just passed a $240 million bond issue to renovate/rebuild all the schools. The high school will be totally rebuilt at $140 million. Good teachers get close to $100k a year. Yeah property taxes are high but l get a prep-school caliber education for my kids. I’d love to justify a move back to OK as I lived in OKC my first 26 years but I can’t. Lots of my high school/college friends feel the same way. Columbus is a contender to get the new Amazon headquarters which will bring a staggering 50,000 jobs which pay over 100k each. You think amazon will give OKC the time of the day. It’s frustrating because I’d love for OK to do well but those small-minded sh*tbags who run the state won’t let it happen.
It's so amazing to hear these people brag about being pro-business, when the most successful and innovative businesses in the country wouldn't dream of coming here because of that very dynamic. You wouldn't believe the state of public education here. I was looking at an oklahoma real estate portfolio with a west coast investor the other day and he was dumbfounded at our property taxes. This is what you get when you get greedy, ignorant conservatives setting policy.
